Frequently Asked Questions
Taurus 460 for sale
Does Taurus make a 460 revolver?
Yes, Taurus makes the Raging Hunter 460, a double-action revolver chambered in .460 S&W Magnum. It holds five rounds and is available in multiple barrel lengths, including 8.37-inch and 10.5-inch variants. It typically costs around $899 and remains available through multiple retailers.
Is the Taurus Raging Hunter 460 a good gun?
Whether it's "good" depends on your needs. Hunters praise its power, accuracy, and versatility with .460 S&W Magnum, .454 Casull, or .45 Colt rounds. Recoil is substantial but manageable given its weight. Priced around $899, it offers solid construction and multiple barrel lengths for serious hunting use.
What is the difference between Taurus raging bull and raging hunter?
The Raging Hunter (2019) is a redesigned Raging Bull featuring an aluminum barrel shroud instead of stainless steel, making it lighter. The Hunter also adds an integrated Picatinny rail for optics mounting and refined ergonomics, making it more hunting-oriented. Both are large-frame magnum revolvers sharing the same basic platform.
What are some common problems with the raging hunter?
Users report inconsistent accuracy, trigger stiffness, and cylinder binding. Heavy .460 S&W loads make recoil management difficult. Quality control is inconsistent, meaning some guns perform reliably while others have persistent issues. Customer service complaints are common. Individual examples vary significantly in overall quality.
What caliber can a 460 shoot?
A .460 S&W Magnum revolver can fire .460 S&W Magnum, .454 Casull, .45 Colt, and .45 Schofield rounds. Always verify compatibility with your specific firearm's manufacturer before using alternative calibers.
How much does a Taurus raging hunter cost?
Taurus Raging Hunter revolvers start as low as $751.99, with an average new price of around $807.70.
What is the effective range of a 460 magnum?
The .460 S&W Magnum has a maximum point blank range of roughly 250 yards on deer-sized game. Most hunters use it effectively within 100–200 yards, though practical range depends on shooter skill and barrel length, with longer barrels producing flatter trajectories.
What is the Taurus Raging Hunter 460 S&W?
Taurus Raging Hunter 460 is a double-action revolver chambered in .460 S&W Magnum, holding 5 rounds. Introduced in 2019, it features a 10.5-inch barrel with proprietary compensator to manage recoil and a bottom rail for shooting accessories. Typically priced around $899, it's designed for hunting applications.
