Frequently Asked Questions
Taurus .45 Compact for sale
Does Taurus make a compact 45?
Yes. Taurus makes several compact 45 ACP pistols, including the 1911 Officer, the TH45, and the 24/7 G2 Compact. The 1911 Officer features a 3.5-inch barrel and 6-round capacity. Prices typically run around $495, with most listings between $431–$639.
Is a .45 good for concealed carry?
.45 ACP works for concealed carry but trades capacity for stopping power. Full-size models are bulkier and heavier, making them less discreet. Compact options like the Glock 30 or Springfield XD-S suit concealment better. Your choice depends on comfort, clothing, and whether you prioritize round count or caliber size.
What is the most reliable Taurus pistol?
Reliability varies by model, but the Taurus G2C consistently receives strong user feedback for dependability and value. The PT-111 G2 also has a solid track record. Among revolvers, the Model 66 is well-regarded. Research specific models and read owner reviews before purchasing, as individual examples can vary.
What is the best compact 45 caliber pistol?
"Best" depends on your priorities. Popular compact .45 ACP options include the Glock 30 (10+1 capacity), Springfield XD-S (slim single-stack), SIG Sauer P220 Carry, and the Springfield Operator Compact 1911. Consider barrel length, capacity, reliability, and ergonomics when choosing for concealed carry or home defense.
What are the drawbacks of a 1911 .45 ACP?
Single-stack magazines limit capacity to seven to ten rounds versus modern double-stacks holding fifteen or more. Recoil is substantial for newer shooters. The platform is heavier and bulkier than modern compact pistols. It requires more frequent maintenance and .45 ACP ammunition costs more than 9mm.
