Privacy Policy

GunsNPrices.com ("GunsNPrices", "we", "us") compares prices of firearms and ammunition sold by US online retailers. We don't sell anything ourselves: purchases are made on the retailers' websites. This policy explains what information we collect on our website, in our browser extension and, once it is released, in our mobile app, and how we use it.

1. The short version

  • You can use GunsNPrices without an account.
  • We ask for your email only if you want a price or stock alert, or if you write to us.
  • We use Microsoft Clarity to understand how visitors use the site. We don't use advertising trackers.
  • Links to stores are affiliate links: we may earn a commission when you buy, at no extra cost to you.
  • We don't sell your personal information.

2. Information you give us

  • Price-drop and back-in-stock alerts. When you ask to be notified about a product, we store your email address, the product and, if you set one, your target price. We use them only to send the alert you asked for, through an email delivery provider.
  • Reviews. If you post a review, the name you enter and your review are published on the product page.
  • Messages. If you use the contact form or email us, we use your name, email address and message to reply.

3. Information collected automatically

  • Server logs. Like most websites, our servers record the IP address, browser type, page requested, referring page and time of each request. We use these logs for security and troubleshooting and keep them for about 10 days.
  • Cookies. We set a few cookies needed for the site to work, such as your language preference and a cookie that helps protect the site from automated traffic.
  • Analytics. We use Microsoft Clarity to see how visitors use our pages (for example clicks, scrolling and session recordings, with typed text masked). Clarity sets its own cookies and processes this data for us under the Microsoft Privacy Statement.
  • Deals and price history. Our deal pages and price history are built from retailers' prices and stock, not from information about you.

4. Links to stores (affiliate links)

When you click a link to a store, you leave GunsNPrices and go to the retailer's website, usually through an affiliate network such as AvantLink, Impact or Partnerize. The network and the retailer may set their own cookies to record that the visit came from us, so that we may earn a commission if you buy something. This doesn't change the price you pay. The retailer's and the network's privacy policies apply on their sites.

5. GunsNPrices browser extension (Firefox, Opera)

The extension is available for Firefox on Mozilla Add-ons. The Opera version has not been released yet; this section will apply to it once it is available.

  • When price check is on (in Firefox you agree to it when installing; in Opera you turn it on after installing), the extension sends us the address of the product page you open on one of the supported retailer sites and the product code (UPC) shown on it, to find the product and its prices at other stores. Pages on other sites are never read or sent. We don't store these page addresses or link them to you.
  • Text you type into the extension's search, select for "Search GunsNPrices" or enter after the "gnp" address-bar keyword is sent to us to return search results.
  • Once a day the extension asks us for the current prices of the products on your watchlist.
  • When you click a store link in the extension, we record the product, the store and the time of the click, then send you to the store through our affiliate link.
  • If you press "Wrong product?", we store the product, the store and the page address so we can fix the match.
  • Your watchlist and settings are stored in your browser and are removed when you uninstall the extension. The extension has no account and no analytics.

6. GunsNPrices mobile app

The app has not been released yet. This section will apply once it is available.

  • The app doesn't use accounts or ask for your email. It creates a random install ID. If you allow notifications, Apple gives the app a push token, which we use to send the alerts you set up and, if you turn them on, daily deals.
  • We store your watchlist (products and alert settings) and your notification settings with that install ID, and we record store link clicks (product, store, time).
  • You can stop alerts at any time in the app or in your device settings. To delete the data linked to your install ID, write to us.

7. How we use and share information

We use the information described above to run and improve GunsNPrices, send the alerts you ask for, answer your messages, keep the service secure and meet legal obligations.

We don't sell or rent your personal information, and we don't share it for advertising. We share it only with service providers who help us run GunsNPrices (hosting, email delivery, Microsoft Clarity, Apple's push notification service), when the law requires it, or to protect our users and our service.

8. How long we keep information

Alert subscriptions are kept until the alert is no longer needed or you ask us to delete them. Messages are kept as long as needed to deal with your request. Server logs are kept for about 10 days. Extension and app data linked to an install ID are kept while you use them or until you ask us to delete them.

9. Your choices and rights

  • You can ask us for a copy of your personal information, ask us to correct or delete it, or unsubscribe from alerts by writing to info@gunsnprices.com.
  • You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site will still work.
  • You can turn off the extension's price check, card and notifications in its settings, or uninstall it.
  • California residents: we don't sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

10. Children

GunsNPrices is intended for adults. We don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

11. Security and international visitors

We use HTTPS and take reasonable measures to protect the information we hold, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure. GunsNPrices is intended for visitors in the United States; information may be processed in the United States and in other countries where our service providers operate.

12. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will post the new version on this page and update the effective date.

Prices and stock are collected from retailers once a day and can change at any time; always check the final price on the retailer's website before you buy. GunsNPrices doesn't sell firearms or ammunition, and product names, logos and images belong to their owners.
