Classic Daniel Defense models

Daniel Defense was founded by Marty Daniel in Georgia (sources give 2000 to 2002), started as a rail maker and has built complete rifles in Black Creek, Georgia, since 2009.

2003–2004: M4A1 rail contract USSOCOM rails
Won a USSOCOM contract for M4A1 carbine rails over Knight's Armament and A.R.M.S.
2009: DDM4 (V1) First complete rifle
16-inch AR-15 with an Omega X 12.0 FSP rail; production started in Black Creek, Georgia.
2010–2015: Ambush Firearms Hunting AR brand
Began with a 16-inch 6.8 SPC rifle and merged into Daniel Defense as its hunting line in 2015.
2015: DD5 V1 First AR-10
Daniel Defense's first .308-size AR; the Gen 2 V3, V4 and V5 followed in 2019.
2017: DDM4 V7 AR-15
Named the NRA's 2017 Gun of the Year.
2019: Delta 5 Bolt-action rifle
The company's bolt-action debut at SHOT Show 2019.
2024: Daniel H9 and DD PCC First pistol and PCC
The H9 revived the Hudson H9 design; the PCC runs on CZ Scorpion magazines.

Daniel Defense model names explained

DDM4: Daniel Defense's flagship AR-15 line; the first DDM4 (later called the V1) came out in 2009.
V7 / V7 Pro / V7 P: DDM4 versions: V7 is the core M-LOK carbine, V7 Pro the competition model, V7 P the pistol.
PDW: DDM4 PDW: 7-inch .300 BLK pistol with a pistol-length gas system (2020).
RIS II / RIS III: Daniel Defense Rail Interface System handguards; RIS III swaps the quad Picatinny for M-LOK and adds QD sling points.
DD4: AR-15 line built on a fully ambidextrous lower: bolt catch, safety and magazine release work from either side.
MK18: Named after the US Navy Mk 18 CQBR, a 10.3-inch M4A1 upper; the Mk 18 Mod 1 used a Daniel Defense rail.
MK12 / SPR III: Named after the Navy Mk 12 Special Purpose Rifle (18-inch barrel); SPR III is Daniel Defense's updated version.
DD5 V3 / V4 / V5: Daniel Defense AR-10s with 16-, 18- and 20-inch barrels.
Delta 5 / Delta 5 Pro: Bolt-action rifle (2019) and its chassis-stocked version (2020).
