Frequently Asked Questions
Springfield XDM OSP for sale
What does XD-M OSP mean?
OSP stands for Optical Sight Pistol. XD-M OSP models have a factory-milled slide cut for mounting red dot optics such as the Hex Dragonfly, eliminating the need for aftermarket machining and allowing direct optic installation on the striker-fired pistol.
Are XDm good guns?
XD-M pistols are well-regarded for reliability, accuracy, and ergonomics. Users consistently praise the trigger quality and handling. With a median price around $606, they compete well against similar polymer-framed pistols in the self-defense and range market.
What are common XDM problems?
Reported issues include striker retainer pin failure over time, occasional magazine spring degradation causing jams, and stiff trigger feel. Most users report thousands of rounds without problems. Magazine quality and small part durability vary by production batch. Reliability remains solid for most owners.
What is the difference between XDM and XDM Elite?
XD-M Elite features a flat-face trigger with approximately 5-pound pull versus the original XD-M's curved trigger. Elite models also include a flared magazine well for faster reloads and higher-capacity magazines. Frame geometry remains identical between generations, making them largely interchangeable platforms.
What is the price of the XD-M Elite 9mm?
XD-M Elite 9mm pistols typically cost around $571, with variants ranging from approximately $408 to $706 depending on frame size, capacity, and optic-ready features. Springfield offers 22 configurations across multiple retailers.
What footprint is XDM?
XD-M OSP variants use the Springfield Standard optical footprint, compatible with most mainstream red dots via mounting plates. Non-OSP XD-M slides require custom milling for optic mounting.
