Frequently Asked Questions
Springfield XDS for sale
Is the Springfield XDs 9mm a good gun?
Whether it's good depends on your needs. The XD-S 9mm is reliable, accurate, and designed for concealed carry with a single-stack frame. Shooters praise its ergonomics and manageable recoil. Original models are discontinued but available used; newer XD-S Mod.2 variants offer updated features if you want current production options.
What is the price range of the XDS 9mm?
XDS 9mm pistols typically sell around $470, with most listings ranging $331–$589. The original XDS line remains available new, with models like the XDS 3.3 Single Stack 9mm listed at retailers. Newer XD-S Mod.2 variants command similar prices.
How many rounds does the XDS 9mm hold?
Springfield XD-S 9mm models hold 7, 9, or 12 rounds depending on the magazine. The XD-S Mod.2 ships with a 7-round flush-fit magazine and an extended magazine, with 9-round and 12-round extended options available across variants.
Do xds have safety?
Yes. XD-S pistols have four built-in safeties: a grip safety, trigger safety, firing-pin block, and out-of-battery safety. The grip safety disables firing unless the gun is properly gripped. All four function automatically during normal handling—there is no manual thumb safety.
Is the Springfield XD-S discontinued?
Springfield has discontinued the XD-S and broader XD line, including the XD-S Mod.2. No evidence confirms any XD-S variant remains in current production. Used models still appear on the secondary market, typically around $470.
Is the Springfield XD-S mod 2 discontinued?
Not entirely. While some XD-S Mod.2 variants have been discontinued, the XD-S Mod.2 OSP optics-ready version remains available through Springfield Armory. Used examples also appear on the secondary market, typically around $470. Check Springfield's website for current model availability.
Is the springfield XD-S 45 ACP 3.3 recall?
Springfield Armory issued a voluntary safety recall in August 2013 covering XD-S pistols in both .45 ACP and 9mm within specific serial number ranges. Visit Springfield Armory's website and check your serial number against the recall notice to confirm whether your pistol is affected.
Does Springfield still make the XD-S 45?
Yes, Springfield Armory still produces the XD-S in .45 ACP. The standard XD-S 3.3" barrel model remains in active production, while the XD-S Mod.2 in .45 ACP has been discontinued. Prices typically run around $470 through various retailers.
What is the XD-S 45 pistol known for?
Springfield's XD-S .45 ACP is a compact, slim, striker-fired concealed carry pistol with a 3.3-inch barrel and grip safety that delivers .45 ACP power with minimal bulk. The XD-S 2.0 in .45 ACP has been discontinued, though it remains a solid carry option. The current lineup features the XD-S Mod.2 OSP variant.
What are the reviews of the Springfield xds?
Springfield XD-S pistols earn consistent praise for reliability, ergonomics, and concealability. Users highlight good sights and manageable triggers, though some find recoil stiff given the slim frame. It is widely considered a solid concealed carry option, though comfort during extended shooting sessions varies by shooter.
How accurate is the Springfield XD-S 45?
The XD-S .45 ACP is accurate for a compact pistol. Most shooters report reliable point-of-aim performance at typical defensive distances of 7–15 yards. Its short barrel limits long-range precision, but for a subcompact carry gun, it performs well. Shooter skill remains the primary accuracy variable.
