Frequently Asked Questions
Springfield XD Mod 2 5" for sale
Is the XD mod 2 discontinued?
Yes, Springfield Armory discontinued the XD Mod.2 line, which included 9mm, .40SW, and .45ACP variants. Used inventory remains available through secondary markets, and some retailers still stock remaining units. Our marketplace shows two variants from seven retailers, typically priced around $510, though availability varies by location and model.
Is the XD mod 2 a good gun?
Springfield's XD Mod.2 5-inch Service Model is well-regarded as a full-size defensive handgun. Reviewers note reliable function, good ergonomics, and solid accuracy. It performs competently for home defense or duty use, though fit varies by shooter—handling one before buying is advisable.
What is the difference between Springfield XD and XD MOD 2?
The XD MOD 2 updates the original XD with a more aggressive grip texture, improved grip geometry, and a slightly redesigned frame for better ergonomics. Both use striker-fired actions and similar controls, but the MOD 2 offers enhanced handling and a more refined feel while maintaining the same basic operating system.
Is the Springfield XD mod 2 optic ready?
The XD-S Mod.2 OSP has a factory-milled slide designed to accept micro red dots, including the Crimson Trace CTS-1500. No adapter plate is needed, and the low mount position allows co-witness with emergency iron sights.
