Common concerns
Sights Quality & Design8%
This gun has standard black on black sights. That seemed like a downgrade over their cheaper XD models
Tight Magazine Springs4%
Springs in the clips are definitely stiff. Very hard to fully load.
Magazine Restrictions by State3%
If you live in a state with mag capacity restrictions, you will NOT get the magasines.
Sight Alignment Issues2%
I have to pin the front sight all the way to the right from the rear sight just to make it shoot straight
Frequently Asked Questions
Springfield XDM for sale
Did Springfield discontinue the XDM?
Springfield discontinued the original XD-M line and replaced it with the XD-M Elite, which features updates including a flared magwell and higher capacity magazines. Original XD-M variants are no longer sold new but remain available through secondary market sources.
Is the Springfield XDM a good gun?
Whether the XD-M suits you depends on your needs. It's a reliable striker-fired pistol available in 9mm, .45 ACP, and 10mm with solid capacity. Shooters praise its ergonomics and accuracy for self-defense and competition. Note that Springfield replaced the original XD-M with the Elite model, though used variants remain available.
What's the difference between a Springfield XD and a Springfield XDm?
The XDm features tighter barrel tolerances, a match-grade barrel, and an adjustable, wider grip compared to the standard XD. The XDm also offers higher magazine capacity. Both are striker-fired pistols; the main differences are the adjustable grip, finish quality, and slight accuracy improvements in the XDm.
How does the XDM compare to Glock?
Both are striker-fired pistols with similar reliability. The XD-M adds a grip safety, adjustable backstraps, and a match-grade barrel. Glock has simpler controls and vastly more aftermarket support. Trigger feel and ergonomics differ noticeably between them, so handling both before purchasing is recommended.
What does XDM stand for?
XD-M stands for eXtreme Duty M, where the "M" denotes "Match." It is a striker-fired pistol line by Springfield Armory, representing an enhanced version of the original XD platform featuring match-grade barrels, improved ergonomics, and interchangeable backstraps.
Did Springfield discontinue the XD-M Elite 10mm?
Springfield discontinued most XD-M Elite 10mm models, including the full-size 4.5" variant. Only the XD-M Elite compact 10mm may still be available, though the broader 10mm lineup appears largely discontinued. Current marketplace data shows remaining 10mm XD-M Elite models across multiple retailers at a median price of $579.99.
What is the price of the Springfield XD-M Elite 10mm?
The Springfield XD-M Elite 10mm typically retails around $579.99, with prices ranging from $379 to $779 depending on barrel length, finish, and retailer.
Where is the Springfield XDM made?
The XD-M is manufactured by HS Produkt in Karlovac, Croatia. Springfield Armory imports and markets the pistol in the United States.
