Frequently Asked Questions
Springfield XDM 45 for sale
Is the XDM 45 discontinued?
Yes, Springfield Armory discontinued the XD-M line, including the XD-M 4.5" in 45 ACP. The entire original XD-M series has been phased out and replaced by the XD-M Elite line. The 45 ACP variant has not appeared in the new Elite lineup.
What are common XDm problems?
Reported issues include striker retainer pin failures on older models, stiff triggers, occasional jamming with certain ammunition, and magazine spring durability concerns. Some users report grip angle discomfort. Reliability varies by individual gun and maintenance. Current XD-M Elite variants address earlier design concerns.
What's the difference between a Springfield XD and a Springfield XDm?
The XDm features tighter barrel tolerances, a match-grade barrel, higher magazine capacity, and interchangeable backstraps for grip sizing compared to the standard XD. Both are striker-fired pistols. Accuracy between the two is comparable, with no clear out-of-box advantage for either model.
Is the Springfield XDm good?
The Springfield XD-M is a reliable, accurate striker-fired pistol. Current Elite models in 9mm and 10mm OSP retail around $590. Reviewers note good ergonomics and consistent performance across ammunition types. Earlier models had occasional reliability issues, but newer production variants have largely resolved those problems.
What are the accessories available for the Springfield XD 45?
Springfield XD 45 accessories include holsters, magazine loaders, optic mounting plates, red dot sights, weapon lights, extended magazine releases, magwells, and replacement springs. Compatibility varies by model and barrel length, so verify your specific variant before purchasing, as different generations may differ in mounting systems and fitment.
Is there an extended magazine for Springfield XD 45?
Yes. ProMag makes a 25-round extended magazine for the Springfield XD-M in .45 ACP with a blued steel body and removable polymer baseplate, typically around $30. Springer Precision also offers a 170mm extended capacity magazine for XD/XDM/Elite 45 models in multiple colors.
What's the difference between XD-M and XD-M Elite?
XD-M Elite models feature an improved trigger, flared magazine well, higher-capacity magazines, and refined ergonomics compared to original XD-M pistols. Elite variants are available in multiple calibers, including 10mm as a distinct offering from the standard XD-M 10mm. Elite pricing typically runs $590 median across our marketplace.
