Frequently Asked Questions
Springfield Armory XD-E for sale
Did Springfield discontinue the XDE?
Yes, Springfield Armory discontinued the XD-E in December 2021, after less than four years of production following its 2017 release. Used and remaining inventory still circulates through retailers, but new production has ended.
Is the Springfield XDE any good?
The XD-E is a solid single-stack carry gun with a DA/SA hammer-fired platform. Users report excellent reliability through thousands of rounds. It remains a current, viable carry option for those who prefer hammer-fired guns in a compact size.
Do xds mags fit xde?
Yes, XDS magazines fit the XDE. Factory XDS mags are marked XDS/XDE for compatibility. The 8 and 9 round XDS magazines work in the XDE, with the +1 extension sitting flush. This applies to 9mm models; the .45 ACP XDE also exists and has its own magazine and accessory compatibility.
What does XDE stand for in Springfield?
The "E" in XD-E stands for external hammer. Springfield designed it as a hammer-fired alternative to their striker-fired XD-S, offering a double-action/single-action trigger in a compact, single-stack frame.
What is the difference between Springfield XDS and XDE?
The XD-S is striker-fired and subcompact; the XD-E is hammer-fired DA/SA with a slightly longer grip. The XD-E holds 8–9 rounds versus the XD-S's 7 and weighs more. Both are single-stack carry pistols, but the XD-E suits shooters who prefer a traditional hammer-fired platform.
How big is the Springfield XDE?
Springfield offers the XD-E in three barrel lengths: 3.3", 3.8", and 4.5". Overall length runs 6.75", height 5" with flush magazine or 5.25" with extended, and width 1". Weight is around 25 ounces empty. It is a compact single-stack designed for concealed carry.
How much is a used Springfield XDE 45?
Used Springfield XD-E .45 ACP pistols typically sell for $286–$425 depending on condition. Marketplace listings show some examples priced around $494, but used guns generally trend lower. Check local gun shops or online listings for current pricing in your area.
