Frequently Asked Questions
Taurus Revolver for sale
How much does a Taurus revolver typically cost?
Taurus revolvers typically cost between $185 and $840, with most models averaging around $312. Price varies based on caliber, barrel length, and finish.
Are Taurus good revolvers?
Taurus revolvers are generally reliable and affordable. Models like the 82 and Raging Hunter receive positive reviews for accuracy and dependable performance. Fit and finish are functional rather than premium, but most owners consider them trustworthy firearms for the price.
What are common problems with Taurus revolvers?
Reported issues include misfires, cylinder chambers with loose tolerances, and transfer bar failures in older models. Quality control has been inconsistent across production runs. Many owners report reliable performance, and Taurus offers warranty service for defective units.
Which Taurus revolver is the best?
"Best" depends on your needs. The Model 66 is a reliable mid-range .357 Magnum; the 605 suits compact carry; the Raging Hunter handles heavy magnum loads for hunting. Consider intended use, caliber, and budget before deciding.
Does Taurus make a good 357 revolver?
Taurus .357 revolvers offer solid reliability and value. Models like the 627 deliver dependable performance at affordable prices, typically around $300–$400. Quality control can vary between production runs, but most owners report trustworthy operation. They won't match premium brands in fit and finish, but provide genuine capability for the cost.
What are the different Taurus 357 models?
Taurus .357 Magnum revolvers include the Raging Hunter (multiple barrel lengths), the compact 605 (including T.O.R.O. optics-ready variant), the 692 (notable for its included 9mm cylinder), the 627 Tracker, the 608, and the 65 and 66 series. Prices range from roughly $185 to $840 depending on model and configuration.
What year Taurus is the most reliable?
The most reliable Ford Taurus years are 2017-2018, 2015-2016, and 2011. Avoid 2012-2014, which are among the worst years for reported problems. Also steer clear of 2000-2003 and 2005 model years due to engine and transmission issues.
How many bullets does a Taurus 38 Special hold?
Taurus .38 Special revolvers typically hold 6 rounds, though some models vary. The Taurus 856 holds 6 rounds, while other models may hold 5. Check your specific model's manual or the manufacturer's website to confirm capacity.
