Frequently Asked Questions
Taurus Spectrum .380 for sale
Is the Taurus Spectrum discontinued?
Yes, Taurus discontinued the Spectrum .380 subcompact pistol. It no longer appears in current Taurus catalogs, though used examples remain available through secondary markets typically around $200.
What is the lawsuit against Taurus?
Taurus faced a class-action lawsuit alleging certain pistols could fire when dropped without the trigger being pulled. A final settlement worth $239 million was approved for class members, including an enhanced lifetime warranty. Taurus did not admit to any defects. The company also faces additional ongoing legal actions.
Why does Taurus have a bad reputation?
Taurus firearms have faced criticism for inconsistent quality control, reliability issues, and product recalls. Some users report jamming and durability problems compared to established competitors. Their budget pricing attracts cost-conscious buyers, but customer service complaints have reinforced perceptions of spotty performance across certain product lines.
What's the most reliable Taurus pistol?
The Taurus 66 revolver in .357 Magnum consistently earns strong reliability marks. Among semi-autos, the G2C and G3 have solid track records. Reliability varies by individual unit, so read current owner reviews and, if possible, handle the firearm before buying.
Has Taurus gun quality improved?
Taurus has modernized its manufacturing and improved quality control in recent years. Many owners report better reliability in current models compared to older ones. That said, consistency still varies, so check reviews for the specific model you're considering before buying.
