Frequently Asked Questions
Taurus Raging Hunter .44 Mag for sale
Is the Taurus Raging Hunter a good revolver?
The Raging Hunter offers solid value for hunting and range use. It's accurate, features a ported barrel for recoil management, and comes in multiple calibers. Reviewers praise its optics rail and ergonomics. Priced around $1,000, it undercuts competitors while delivering comparable performance.
How much does a Taurus raging hunter cost?
Taurus Raging Hunter revolvers typically cost around $779, with most listings starting near $752 and a 12-month average around $795. Eight variants are available across approximately 30 retailers.
What is the best barrel length for a Taurus raging hunter?
Barrel length depends on intended use. For hunting, longer barrels increase velocity and sight radius; shorter ones improve portability. The Raging Hunter comes in multiple lengths from 5.125 to 8.375 inches, including 5.125", 6.25", and 8.375" options. Choose based on your hunting distance, game, and comfort.
What are some common problems with the raging hunter?
Reported issues include inconsistent accuracy, trigger stiffness, and cylinder binding on some units. Recoil in magnum calibers can challenge shooters with weaker wrists. Taurus quality control varies by individual gun, and customer service complaints surface occasionally. Many owners report solid performance, so results differ unit to unit.
What is the difference between the Taurus Raging Bull and the Raging Hunter?
The Raging Hunter (2019) updated the older Raging Bull with an aluminum barrel shroud, integrated muzzle brake, porting, and cushioned grips for improved recoil management. Both are five-shot magnum revolvers, but the Hunter reflects Taurus's more recent engineering refinements and generally offers better value.
What model is a Taurus raging hunter?
The Taurus Raging Hunter is a single/double-action revolver line launched in 2019. It is available in six calibers ranging from .357 Magnum to .500 S&W Magnum, with barrel lengths from 5.125 to 14 inches.
When was the Taurus Raging Hunter made?
Taurus introduced the Raging Hunter in 2019 as a redesigned evolution of its Raging Bull line. It features an aluminum barrel shroud, integrated muzzle brake, and porting for recoil control, and won the 2019 Golden Bullseye Award for Hunting Handgun of the Year from Shooting Illustrated/NRA.
Do Taurus guns hold value?
Taurus firearms depreciate significantly. A G3C retailing for $250-$300 can sell used for only $70-$150. The low purchase price softens the blow, and the lifetime repair warranty supports long-term ownership, but buyers should expect steep resale losses compared to brands with stronger used-market demand.
