Frequently Asked Questions
Springfield XDS 45 for sale
Does Springfield still make the XD-S 45?
Yes, Springfield Armory still produces the XD-S in .45 ACP, including the Mod.2 OSP variant. It's available through multiple retailers, with prices typically ranging from $333 to $600.
Is the XD-S 45 a reliable pistol?
Yes, the XD-S .45 ACP is generally considered reliable. Users commonly report consistent performance across various ammunition types with few malfunctions. Its striker-fired design and solid ergonomics make it a practical option for concealed carry, though individual results can vary based on maintenance and ammunition selection.
Is the springfield xds 45 acp 3.3 recall?
Springfield Armory issued a voluntary safety recall in August 2013 for XD-S pistols in both .45 ACP and 9mm due to a safety defect that could cause unintended discharge. Contact Springfield Armory directly at 1-800-680-6866 with your serial number to confirm if your pistol is affected.
What is the difference between Springfield XD and XD MOD 2?
The XD Mod.2 updated the original XD's grip texture to a more aggressive pattern for better control, added a beavertail grip zone, and refined the overall ergonomics. The core mechanics, striker-fired action, and reliability remained unchanged. The Mod.2 is essentially a refined version, not a mechanical overhaul.
What is the XD-S 45 pistol known for?
Springfield's XD-S .45 ACP is known as a compact, lightweight concealed carry pistol that delivers .45 ACP power in a slim, subcompact frame. Its striker-fired action, grip safety, and concealable size make it popular for everyday carry. The current Mod.2 OSP variant adds optics-ready capability.
What magazines are compatible with the Springfield XD 45?
Springfield XD-S .45 ACP pistols use factory XD-S Mod.2 magazines in 6-round and 9-round capacities. ProMag also makes compatible aftermarket magazines. Springfield recommends using factory XD-S magazines for reliability and safety, as other magazines may require modifications and could cause malfunctions.
How many rounds does a Springfield XD 45 hold?
The Springfield XD-S .45 ACP holds 5 rounds in its standard magazine, plus one in the chamber for 6 total. The full-size XD .45 ACP holds 13 rounds standard, and the XD Tactical version also offers 13-round capacity. Capacity may vary by state regulations.
