Frequently Asked Questions
Sig Sauer P220 10mm for sale
How much is the P220 10mm?
SIG Sauer P220 10mm pistols typically run around $1,599.99, with most listings between $1,229.99 and $1,779.99. Eight variants are available from 27 retailers, with six currently in stock.
Is the Sig P220 Legion any good?
The P220 Legion is reliable and accurate, with ergonomics familiar to 1911 shooters. Downsides include significant weight and a heavy double-action trigger. The 10mm version delivers minimal recoil for the caliber, making it a controllable package. Single-action performance is excellent. Some shooters prefer competing full-size pistols for comfort.
What magazines are compatible with SIG Sauer P220?
SIG Sauer P220 magazines are caliber-specific: .45 ACP models use 8-round magazines, and 10mm models use their own 8-round magazines. Full-size and carry variants share the same magazines within each caliber. OEM SIG Sauer magazines are recommended; aftermarket options are available but vary in reliability.
What's the best ammo for a SIG P220 10mm?
For defensive carry, Speer Gold Dot 200gr JHP or Hornady Critical Duty 175gr FlexLock are proven choices. For range practice, SIG Elite 180gr FMJ is cost-effective. The P220 10mm handles full-power loads well, so avoid downloaded ammunition that may cause reliability issues.
Does SIG SAUER make a compact 10 mm?
SIG Sauer makes the P320-XTEN in 10mm, which has a 5-inch barrel, optics-ready slide, and optional integrated compensator. It is designed for carry and backcountry use. SIG also chambers the full-size P220 in 10mm.
What is the difference between Sig P220 and P220R?
The "R" designates an accessory rail on the dust cover for mounting lights or lasers. Modern P220s are produced as the P220R. Older P220 models lack this rail. Both fire the same calibers and share internal mechanisms. The rail is the primary external distinction between generations.
Is the Sig Sauer P220 still in production?
Yes, SIG Sauer currently produces the P220, but has discontinued most variants including standard Nitron models. Only Legion series models remain, specifically the P220 DA/SA Legion 10mm and the newly added P220 Legion SAO 10mm. Pricing typically runs $1,230–$1,780 on our marketplace.
Where is the Sig P220 made?
The P220 was originally manufactured in Switzerland by SIG and in West Germany by J.P. Sauer & Sohn. Today, SIG Sauer produces the P220 in Exeter, New Hampshire, USA.
