Frequently Asked Questions
Sig Sauer P2022 for sale
Is the Sig Sauer SP2022 a good gun?
The SP2022 is well-regarded for reliability, accuracy, and ergonomics. This medium-size 9mm is the lightest DA/SA SIG makes, includes a decocker and accessory rail, and suits both defense and carry use. The main consideration is whether the grip fits your hand comfortably.
What caliber is the Sig Sauer SP2022?
The Sig Sauer SP2022 is available in 9mm Luger, .357 SIG, and .40 S&W. It is a full-size polymer pistol with a DA/SA trigger. Magazine capacity varies by caliber, ranging from 10 to 17 rounds.
Is Sig SP2022 still made?
SIG Sauer discontinued the SP2022 after nearly 30 years of production. Used and remaining new-old-stock units still circulate through retailers, typically around $500, with about six variants available from roughly 21 retailers, though inventory is limited.
Is the Sig SP2022 a compact?
The SP2022 is generally categorized as a mid-size compact pistol, not a full-size service pistol. It has a polymer frame, DA/SA trigger, and holds 15 rounds of 9mm. Its dimensions place it in the mid-size range, making it suitable for concealed carry use.
Is the Sig SP2022 drop safe?
The SP2022 has a firing pin block safety and a decocker, making it drop safe when carried with the hammer down in double-action mode. It has no manual safety lever. Use a quality holster designed for this pistol to prevent unintended trigger contact.
Is the Sig SP2022 good for concealed carry?
The SP2022 hits a concealed carry sweet spot, being light and easy to carry. Its 15-round 9mm capacity and reliable DA/SA action are strong advantages. Many users consider it an excellent concealed carry choice, and its mid-size frame balances concealability with shootability for a wide range of body types and clothing.
Can I put a red dot on a Sig SP2022?
Yes, you can mount a red dot on the SP2022. SP2022 slides come in 3 variants, and most require an adapter plate under the optic rather than a direct mount. Options include SIG mounting plates or custom slide milling. Verify your specific slide variant and optic compatibility before buying.
How much is the Sig SP2022 worth?
Typically around $500 based on current marketplace listings. Used SP2022 pistols commonly sell in the $250–$400 range, averaging around $355–$372, while new models average closer to $470–$491. Price varies by condition and retailer.
