Frequently Asked Questions
Taurus Tracker for sale
Is the Taurus Tracker 627 a good gun?
Taurus 627 owners praise its accuracy, manageable recoil, and value. The seven-shot .357 Magnum revolver also chambers .38 Special, making it versatile for range and trail use. Typically priced around $550, it delivers solid reliability at a competitive price point.
What are common issues with a Taurus Tracker 44?
Reported issues include cylinder jamming, hammer travel problems, and occasional early mechanical failures within the first few hundred rounds. Limited five-round capacity requires frequent reloading. Recoil from .44 Magnum loads is substantial. Quality control inconsistencies have been documented, though most units function reliably.
Is the Taurus tracker reliable?
Taurus Tracker revolvers are generally considered reliable for trail and range use. The 692 and 627 models receive positive marks from most owners. Some early quality control issues have been reported, but most function consistently after break-in. They retail for $450–$665, offering good value compared to pricier alternatives.
How much does a Taurus Tracker 44 cost?
Taurus Tracker 44 revolvers typically cost around $617.89, with most listings ranging from roughly $605.97 to $645.58. Seventeen variants are available from thirty retailers, with fourteen currently in stock. Prices vary by barrel length, finish, and seller.
Is the Taurus Tracker 357 a good gun?
Taurus Tracker .357 Magnum revolvers earn solid marks for reliability and value. Users praise smooth triggers, comfortable grips, and accuracy at practical distances. Typically priced around $550, they offer good ammunition flexibility and manageable recoil compared to costlier competitors. Best suited for trail and range work rather than concealed carry.
What is the recoil like on a Taurus Tracker 44?
.44 Magnum recoil is substantial but manageable. The Tracker's ported barrel and rubber grips help tame it noticeably. Light .44 Special loads are mild; full magnum loads produce a sharp snap rather than a push. Most shooters handle it fine with a firm two-hand grip.
How does the Taurus 44 compare to S&W?
Taurus Tracker 44 models cost around $550, undercutting S&W's Model 629 significantly. Both fire .44 Magnum, but S&W commands premium pricing for its reputation and resale value. Taurus machining quality has improved considerably. If budget is the priority, Taurus delivers solid performance; S&W suits those valuing brand prestige.

Taurus 627 Tracker revolvers average around $496 new and $419 used, with specific listings near $469–$481. Seventeen variants are available from thirty retailers, with fourteen currently in stock. Prices vary by barrel length, finish, and seller.
