Frequently Asked Questions
Springfield XDM 9mm for sale
Is the Springfield XDm a good pistol?
The Springfield XDm is well-regarded for reliability, accuracy, and ergonomics. Its striker-fired design with match-grade trigger appeals to shooters wanting tighter tolerances. Around 31 variants are available, typically priced near $553, ranging from $370 to $764. User feedback generally highlights dependable performance across defensive and competitive use.
How much is Springfield XDm Elite 9mm worth?
Springfield XDm Elite 9mm pistols typically cost around $571 new and $468 used, with prices ranging from $370 to $764 depending on the variant and retailer.
What are common XDm problems?
Reported issues include striker retainer pin failures on some units, stiff triggers, occasional jamming with certain ammunition types, and magazine spring durability concerns. Some departments reported elevated failure rates, though most users find the pistol reliable. Individual experiences vary widely.
What is the difference between XD-M and XD-M Elite?
The XD-M Elite adds a flat-faced META trigger, removable magwell, higher magazine capacity, and more aggressive slide serrations. It also comes in two barrel lengths (3.8" and 4.5"), while the original XD-M only comes in the longer barrel length. Both are striker-fired pistols available in multiple calibers.
Are Springfield XD and XDM magazines interchangeable?
XD and XDM magazine interchangeability depends on caliber. For .45 ACP, XD and XDM magazines appear to be the same and work in both pistols. For 9mm and .40 S&W, the magazines differ between platforms. Always verify compatibility for your specific caliber and model before purchasing.
What size magazines are in the Springfield XDM?
XD-M magazines vary by caliber. 9mm models hold 16 rounds standard, with 19, 22, and 35-round extensions available. .40 S&W holds 16 rounds standard. Compact models hold fewer rounds. Verify capacity based on your specific caliber and frame size.
What does the m stand for in XDM?
In XDM, the "M" stands for "More," as in "X-Treme Duty More." Springfield Armory designed the XD-M to offer more features over the standard XD pistol, including enhanced ergonomics and trigger improvements aimed at competitive and duty shooters.
What is the difference between Springfield XD and XDM?
The XD-M features tighter barrel tolerances, improved machining, higher magazine capacity, and an adjustable handgrip compared to the original XD. Beyond these differences, changes are largely cosmetic. Both are striker-fired pistols, and real-world accuracy differences between the two are minimal.
