Frequently Asked Questions
Springfield 1911 Loaded for sale
Is the Springfield 1911 loaded a good gun?
The Springfield 1911 Loaded is generally well-regarded for its tight tolerances, reliable function, and solid ergonomics. Priced around $1,000, it competes well against similar offerings. Quality can vary by variant and finish, so researching specific models before purchasing is worthwhile.
How much is a 1911 pistol from Springfield?
Springfield 1911 pistols typically cost around $999.99. Most listings fall between $882 and $1,299 depending on model, caliber, and finish. Springfield offers multiple variants including the Loaded, Operator, Ronin, and Garrison in .45 ACP, 9mm, and 10mm.
Which is the best Springfield 1911?
"Best" depends on your needs. The Garrison is a solid all-around choice. The Loaded offers tight tolerances and reliability. The Operator suits tactical use. The Mil-Spec delivers classic simplicity. The DS Prodigy excels for competition. Compare calibers, frame sizes, and intended use to decide.
Is the Springfield 1911 operator a good gun?
Springfield's Operator is a well-built, reliable 1911 suited for defensive or tactical use. Priced around $1,100, it offers good value in the mid-range market. The rail system and AOS optics-ready variant appeal to experienced shooters. Not recommended as a first handgun due to 1911 manual-of-arms complexity.
Where is the Springfield 1911 operator made?
The Springfield 1911 Operator's frames and slides are broadly understood to be made by IMBEL in Brazil, with assembly potentially occurring there as well. Springfield Armory is based in Geneseo, Illinois. Check your pistol's markings or contact Springfield Armory directly to confirm your specific model's exact country of origin.
What is the difference between garrison and loaded Springfield?
The Garrison has rear cocking serrations only and basic sights. The Loaded adds front slide serrations, tritium night sights, and an ambidextrous thumb safety. Both are full-size stainless 1911s. The Loaded costs more and suits those wanting enhanced features; the Garrison suits those preferring simplicity.
Is it safe to carry a loaded 1911?
Yes, a 1911 is safe to carry loaded. Carry cocked-and-locked (hammer back, thumb safety engaged). The gun won't fire unless you deliberately disengage the safety and pull the trigger. Traditional 1911s rely on a grip safety, thumb safety, and half-cock notch for drop-safe operation. Requires familiarity with the manual of arms.
Is it worth getting a 1911 in 9mm?
Worth depends on your priorities. Nine-millimeter 1911s offer softer recoil and cheaper ammo than .45 ACP, but the shorter cartridge can cause feeding issues. Quality magazines like Wilson Combat help significantly. Expect to spend around $1,000 for a reliable example from Springfield or similar manufacturers.
