Frequently Asked Questions
.40 cal Glock for sale
What Glock pistol has a 40 caliber?
Glock makes three .40 S&W pistols: the full-size Glock 22 (15-round capacity), the compact Glock 23 (13 rounds), and the subcompact Glock 27 (9 rounds). All are striker-fired. Used models typically sell around $550.
Is a 40 caliber pistol good for concealed carry?
Yes, .40 caliber pistols work well for concealed carry if they fit your hand and you shoot them accurately. Compact and subcompact models minimize printing. Success depends more on your ability to control recoil, practice regularly, and carry a gun you're confident with than on caliber choice alone.
What is the smallest 40 cal Glock?
The Glock 27 is Glock's smallest .40 S&W pistol. This subcompact model has a 3.43-inch barrel, 9-round standard capacity, 6.50-inch overall length, and weighs 19.4 ounces unloaded.
How much is a Glock 40 caliber pistol worth?
Glock .40 S&W pistols typically sell for $450–$600 new, with used examples ranging from $350–$500. Three main variants exist: the full-size Glock 22, compact Glock 23, and subcompact Glock 27. Price varies by generation, condition, and included accessories.
Did Glock stop making 40 caliber guns?
Glock discontinued many .40 S&W pistols, including the G22, G23, and G27, as part of a broader discontinuation of legacy models across multiple calibers, including .45 GAP and .357 SIG. Used .40 caliber Glocks remain available on the secondary market. Check dealers for current stock.
Is a Glock 40 a good gun?
Whether a Glock 40 suits you depends on your needs. It's a reliable 10mm striker-fired pistol with a 6-inch barrel, making it popular for hunting and bear defense. The MOS variant accepts red dot sights without gunsmithing. Consider your intended use, hand size, and comfort with 10mm recoil before deciding.
What ammo not to shoot in a Glock?
Avoid reloaded, remanufactured, or handloaded ammunition due to unsafe pressure risks. Don't use bare lead or non-jacketed bullets; Glock recommends jacketed rounds only. Factory +P and +P+ ammo is acceptable, but Glock advises against a steady diet of either. Use factory ammunition meeting SAAMI standards.
Does Glock make a 30 round magazine for .40 caliber?
Glock doesn't manufacture 30-round .40 S&W magazines. Aftermarket companies like KCI and ETS make 30-31 round magazines compatible with Glock .40 models (G22, G23, G27, G35). Verify local laws before purchasing, as many jurisdictions restrict high-capacity magazines.
