Frequently Asked Questions
Glock 40 Gen 4
Is there a Glock 40 Gen 4?
Yes. Glock makes the G40 Gen4 MOS, a full-size 10mm semi-auto pistol with a long slide designed for hunting, tactical use, and competition. It features a modular optics system for mounting reflex sights and holds 15 rounds. Currently in production and typically priced around $700.
Is the Glock 40 Mos discontinued?
Yes, the Glock 40 MOS Gen4 has been officially discontinued by Glock. Despite earlier rumors being dismissed, Glock confirmed the model's removal from its active lineup. You may still find remaining inventory through retailers, but Glock no longer manufactures this pistol.
Is the Glock 40 Gen 4 discontinued?
Yes, Glock discontinued the G40 entirely — not just the Gen4 variant. The long slide 10mm G40 has been purged from Glock's lineup alongside the G41. This is part of a broader discontinuation of Gen4 and some Gen5 models. Remaining units circulate through retailers and the used market.
Is the Glock 40 Gen 4 reliable?
The Glock 40 Gen 4 is highly reliable. Users report consistent function under harsh conditions. The full-size frame and 6-inch barrel manage the 10mm's recoil effectively. The MOS system allows straightforward optics mounting. It's a dependable choice for hunting, bear defense, or competition.
Which 10mm Glock is the best?
"Best" depends on your needs. The G20 Gen5 suits most uses with its 15-round capacity and manageable size. The G29 is smaller for concealed carry. The G40 MOS has a longer barrel for hunting. Match the choice to your intended purpose.
How much is a Glock 40 retail price?
The Glock 40 Gen 4 MOS can retail up to $1,549.99 new at some retailers. Recent sales data shows a current average new price around $798, with a 12-month average near $735. Prices vary based on condition and retailer, so shop around for the best deal.
Will a Glock 20 holster fit a Glock 40?
Most Glock 20 holsters fit the Glock 40 since both share the same frame width and grip dimensions. However, the Glock 40 has a longer barrel and slide, so closed-end holsters won't fit. Open-ended or adjustable holsters are your best option. Confirm compatibility with the manufacturer before buying.
Is Glock 40 stronger than Glock 20?
Both fire 10mm Auto, so neither is "stronger"—they use identical ammunition. The G40's longer barrel yields slightly higher muzzle velocity and better accuracy. The G20 is more compact. The difference is handling and precision, not power.
Will a Glock 20 magazine fit a Glock 40?
Yes, Glock 20 magazines work in the Glock 40. Both pistols share the same frame size and chamber 10mm Auto, so their standard 15-round magazines are fully interchangeable.
