Frequently Asked Questions
Taurus G3 TORO for sale
Is Taurus G3 Toro a good gun?
Whether it's "good" depends on your priorities. Reviewers praise its accuracy, trigger, and reliability for around $342. It's striker-fired with 12–15 round capacity, available in full-size and compact versions. Budget-conscious shooters generally find it solid value for personal defense or concealed carry.
Do Taurus G3C jam?
Some users report feeding issues with certain hollow-point or specialty ammo like HST or Fiocchi. Most report reliable function with standard FMJ. Problems appear ammo-dependent rather than universal defects. Testing different ammunition typically resolves issues.
Can I dry fire a Taurus G3c?
Yes, the G3c can be dry fired safely. It has a restrike capability, meaning you can pull the trigger repeatedly without racking the slide between pulls. For extended dry fire sessions, using a snap cap is a reasonable precaution, though Taurus does not explicitly require one.
What is the Toro edition of Taurus G3c?
T.O.R.O. stands for Taurus Optics Ready Option. It is a variant of the G3c with a factory-milled slide that accepts micro red dot sights through interchangeable mounting plates, removing the need for custom gunsmithing. It is otherwise identical to the standard G3c compact 9mm.
What's the best ammo for a Taurus G3?
For practice, 115-grain FMJ rounds like Blazer Brass or Winchester USA work reliably. For self-defense, Federal HST 124-grain hollow-points are a proven choice. Some hollow-points may cause feeding issues, so test any defensive ammunition through at least 100 rounds before trusting it.
Is the Taurus G3 drop safe?
Yes, the Taurus G3 is drop safe. It features an internal striker block that prevents unintentional forward striker movement if dropped. A trigger safety adds further protection. Some models also include an optional manual thumb safety mounted on the frame.
Is the Taurus G3 too big for concealed carry?
Not necessarily. At 7.3 inches long and 25 ounces, the full-size G3 falls between a Glock 17 and Glock 19 in size, making it manageable for concealed carry. If you prefer something smaller, Taurus offers the G3c compact. Both work for everyday carry with the right holster and carry position.
What red dot fits a Taurus G3?
G3 T.O.R.O. models use RMR footprint optics. Popular choices include Holosun EPS, HE507C, and HE509T, plus Viridian RFX35 and RFX11. Non-T.O.R.O. G3 pistols need an adapter plate sized for Vortex Venom/Viper, Burris FastFire, or Docter footprint optics. Confirm your slide cut before purchasing.
