Great trigger. I have short fingers and this fits my hand better than the Glock 30.

Common concerns
Grip Issues for Large Hands13%
even after you swap out the backstap and get the extended magazine, if you got bigger hands this is probably not the compact for you.
Tight Magazine Release9%
the magazine release button is way too tight and requires me to press up on the magazine while pushing the release button.
Sight Alignment/Quality Issues5%
I have to pin the front sight all the way to the right from the rear sight just to make it shoot straight
Missing Accessories4%
Was missing the wrench which removes the screws for the plate to mount an optic.
Frequently Asked Questions
Springfield XDM Compact for sale
Is the Springfield XDM a good gun?
Whether the XDM suits you depends on your needs. Springfield offers multiple variants—the XDM Elite is well-regarded for defense. Most listings run $348–$797. The XD-M 10mm OSP is a current production model, not discontinued. Handle one first to assess ergonomics and fit.
What are common XDM problems?
Reported issues include striker retainer pin failure over time, magazine spring degradation causing jams, and occasional small part breakages. Some users note a stiff trigger and awkward grip angle. Reliability varies by variant and ammunition type. Check with Springfield Armory directly for current production and discontinuation status of specific models.
How much is the Springfield XDM compact?
Springfield's XDM Compact typically runs around $580, with most listings between $348–$797. This model remains an active product in Springfield Armory's lineup, with the XD-M Elite 3.8" Compact OSP carrying an MSRP of $674.
What's the difference between a Springfield XD and a Springfield XDm?
The XDm adds a match-grade barrel with tighter chamber and rifling tolerances, closer barrel-to-slide fitting, an improved trigger, and interchangeable backstraps compared to the standard XD. The newer XD-M Elite further upgrades ergonomics and adds a flared magwell. Both are striker-fired and similarly reliable.
Is the XDm 40 discontinued?
Yes, Springfield Armory discontinued the original XDm in .40 S&W. The XDm line was replaced by the XDm Elite series. Check Springfield Armory's website or contact them directly to confirm current availability of .40 S&W options.
Where are springfield xdm pistols made?
Springfield XDM pistols are manufactured by HS Produkt in Karlovac, Croatia. Springfield Armory imports and markets them in the United States under their brand name.
Do XD mags fit in XD-M?
XD and XD-M magazine compatibility varies by caliber and is not fully consistent across sources. In 9mm, XD mags may insert but the slide won't lock back properly. Some calibers show broader interchangeability. Use magazines matched to your specific model and caliber for reliable function.
