Frequently Asked Questions
Sig Sauer P229R for sale
How much is a SIG SAUER 229 worth?
A SIG SAUER P229 typically runs around $1,010 on the used market. New models list for around $1,099.99, with averages ranging from roughly $1,066 to $1,115. Used models trade around $685–$750 depending on condition. New units remain actively listed for sale through current retailers.
Is a SIG Sauer P229 a good gun?
"Good" depends on your needs. The P229 is accurate, reliable, and well-built in 9mm. Its compact size suits concealed carry, though some find it bulky. It remains a current production firearm, including the premium Legion variant, and strong demand reflects its reputation among experienced shooters.
Is the SIG Sauer P229 discontinued?
Yes, SIG Sauer discontinued the P229 line, including the P229 Legion and P229 Nitron Compact. SIG's own discontinued products page lists the P229 among discontinued models, suggesting the discontinuation is broader than a single variant. Check directly with dealers for any remaining stock.
What is a SIG P229 E2?
SIG P229 E2 stands for Enhanced Ergonomics. Introduced around 2009, this compact pistol features an improved grip design and reduced trigger reach compared to earlier P229 variants. It operates in double-action/single-action and was available in 9mm, .40 S&W, and .357 SIG. SIG later integrated E2 ergonomics into the standard P229 lineup.
What are some common upgrades for the P229 Elite?
Popular upgrades include Hogue grips for comfort, GrayGuns curved trigger for improved reset, G10 grip panels, and a SuperStrut guide rod for reduced muzzle flip. Aftermarket barrels and spring upgrades are also common choices for those wanting further customization.
What is the best holster for Sig Sauer P229?
Best holster depends on your carry style. For IWB concealed carry, the Alien Gear Cloak Tuck 3.5 and ShapeShift 4.0 are popular choices. For OWB or duty carry, Safariland and Blackhawk options offer strong retention. Always verify compatibility with your specific P229 variant before buying.
