Frequently Asked Questions
Sig Sauer P229 Legion for sale
Is the SIG P229 Legion a good gun?
The P229 Legion is well-regarded for its ergonomics, smooth trigger, and reliability. Users report strong performance for concealed carry and duty use. It typically requires a break-in period. At around $1,300, it's a premium option, but most owners consider it worth the price.
Is the SIG P229 Legion a carry gun?
Yes, the P229 Legion can be carried concealed, but it's a full-featured duty/range pistol first. At roughly 34 oz unloaded, it's heavier than most carry-focused guns. Dedicated carriers often prefer lighter options, though its size and capacity make it viable for strong-side or appendix carry.
Which SIG Sauer Legion is best?
"Best" depends on your needs. The P226 Legion suits duty and range use, the P226 SAO offers a single-action trigger for competition, and the P229 Legion works better for concealed carry. The Legion lineup has expanded to include models like the P365-AXG and P320 AXG, with calibers varying by model. Choose based on intended use.
What does sao mean SIG SAUER?
SAO stands for Single-Action-Only. The hammer must be manually cocked before firing. SIG Sauer offers SAO versions of their Legion pistols, providing a lighter, crisper trigger pull than double-action/single-action designs.
Is the SIG Sauer P229 discontinued?
Yes, the P229 has been largely discontinued. SIG Sauer dropped the P229 Legion from their site, and older variants like the Nitron are also gone. Only limited P229 options remain available, primarily through secondary markets and our marketplace listings typically priced around $1,300.
What is the best holster for Sig Sauer P229?
For IWB concealed carry, the Alien Gear Cloak Tuck 3.5 and Alien Gear ShapeShift 4.0 are popular choices. For OWB or duty use, consider Safariland's retention holsters. Kydex options from Vedder or Black Arch offer durability and good fit. Choose based on your carry style and comfort needs.
