Frequently Asked Questions
HK 45 Compact for sale
How much does a HK45C cost?
HK45C pistols average $831 new and $657 used, with a 12-month average around $843 new.
Does HK make a compact 45?
Yes. Heckler & Koch makes the HK45C, a compact .45 ACP pistol with an 8-round magazine. It is currently in production and available through various retailers at a median price of around $849.
What are the common problems with the HK45C?
Common issues reported include slide lock lever problems, hammer following the slide, and magazine follower issues. Grip fit can be problematic for larger hands, potentially causing accidental magazine release. Holster selection is limited due to the compact frame. Most issues resolve with proper technique, regular maintenance, or aftermarket solutions.
What is the difference between HK45 and HK45 tactical?
HK45 Tactical adds a threaded barrel for suppressor use, adjustable Truglo high profile sights to clear a suppressor, and front slide serrations. The standard HK45 has none of these. Both share the same trigger and ergonomics.
What are the common HK45 tactical problems?
Common HK45 Tactical issues include subpar stock sights—the front sight is wide while the rear notch is narrow, affecting accuracy. Users also report slide lock failures, feeding problems, and a heavy double-action trigger pull. Most resolve with quality ammunition, proper maintenance, or aftermarket upgrades. Contact Heckler & Koch if problems persist.
Is the HK45C worth it?
Worth depends on your priorities. The HK45C costs around $849, offering strong reliability and ergonomics in a compact .45 ACP package. The trigger is smooth and improves with use. Main downsides include limited holster availability. If build quality justifies the premium for you, it's a capable concealed carry option.
What is the best compact 45 caliber pistol?
"Best" depends on your priorities. Popular compact .45 ACP options include the Springfield XD-S Mod.2, Glock 30, SIG Sauer P220 Carry, and the HK45C. Each varies in capacity, size, and trigger style. Handle several at a range or gun store to find what fits your grip and intended use.
Where is the HK45 made?
The HK45 is manufactured by Heckler & Koch. Production has been based in the USA, with the facility shifting over time — early production occurred in Columbus, Georgia, later moving to New Hampshire around 2011. Some HK45s have also been produced in Germany. Manufacturing location may vary by production run.
