Frequently Asked Questions
Glock 23 Gen 5 for sale
Is the Glock 23 Gen 5 discontinued?
Yes, Glock discontinued the G23 Gen 5 Cut variant as part of a sweeping discontinuation of up to 54 Gen 4 and Gen 5 models during its transition to a new "V" line. Units remain available through various retailers, and Glock typically supports discontinued models with parts and service for many years.
What is the price of the Glock 23 gen 5 mos?
Glock 23 Gen5 MOS pistols typically sell around $589.99 in our marketplace. Most listings range from $499.54 to $740.89. MSRP runs $579 to $745.
Is a Glock 23 too big to carry?
No. The Glock 23 is a compact-frame pistol designed specifically for concealed carry. It matches the Glock 19 in size and weight while chambering .40 S&W. Millions carry it daily with proper holsters. Whether it works for you depends on your body type and clothing choices.
What mags can fit in a Glock 23?
Glock 23 uses .40 S&W magazines with a standard 13-round capacity. Extended 14-round (+1) Glock mags also fit. Glock 22 magazines (15-round) fit as well. Aftermarket options exist from Magpul and others. Always verify compatibility by generation before purchasing.
What holster will fit a Glock 23 Gen 5?
Holsters labeled for the Glock 23 Gen 5 will fit correctly. Safariland also lists holsters covering the Glock 22 and 23 Gen 5 MOS as compatible. Popular options come from Safariland, Blackhawk, Vedder, and Tulster in IWB, OWB, and appendix carry configurations. Always verify fitment before purchasing.
What is a Glock 23 Gen 5 worth?
New Glock 23 Gen 5 pistols typically sell for around $590, with listings ranging from $500 to $740 depending on the variant and retailer. Used models sell for considerably less. This model remains in production and is widely available new from multiple retailers.
What are the common problems with Glock Gen 5?
Reported Gen 5 issues include feeding and extraction problems, particularly with reloaded ammunition. Some users experience stovepipes or light primer strikes. Common ergonomic complaints involve the grip hump, small slide stop lever, plastic sights, and front slide serrations, though many owners report no issues.
Which is better, Glock 22 or Glock 23?
Neither is objectively better—it depends on your use case. The G22 is full-size, offering better control, longer sight radius, and higher capacity, making it suited for duty or range use. The G23 is more compact for concealed carry. Both are equally reliable in .40 S&W. Choose based on shootability versus portability.
What is the best red dot sight for Glock 23 Gen 5?
"Best" depends on your priorities. Trijicon RMR Type 2 leads for durability and battery life. For budget-friendly value, the Holosun 507C ACSS and Holosun 507K ACSS are standout options most shooters favor. Both mount on optics-ready slides, though some configurations require a footprint adapter.
What year was the Glock 23 Gen 5 made?
The Glock 23 Gen 5 was officially released. Glock introduced this compact .40 S&W pistol as part of their Generation 5 lineup. We carry Gen 5 G23 models in our marketplace, so check current listings for available options.
Is a used Glock 23 a good value?
Used Glock 23s typically sell for $350–$400 versus around $500–$583 new, making them good value. The compact .40 S&W striker-fired pistol works well for concealed carry and self-defense. Price varies by condition, generation, and included accessories. Inspect for wear and verify function before purchasing.
Is a Glock 23 accurate?
The Glock 23 is accurate enough for concealed carry and self-defense use. Its 4-inch barrel provides solid performance at typical defensive distances. Like any pistol, practical accuracy depends mostly on the shooter's grip, trigger control, and practice rather than the firearm itself.
Is the Glock 23 Gen 5 reliable?
Glock 23 Gen 5 pistols are highly reliable. Users consistently report minimal malfunctions, and Glock's striker-fired design has a long proven track record. The compact .40 S&W is suitable for concealed carry and self-defense. Gen 5 improvements include ergonomic refinements and a flared magwell for easier reloading.
What is the best upgrade for the Glock 23?
"Best" upgrade depends on your needs. Conversion barrels let you shoot 9mm from your .40 frame. Aftermarket sights improve target acquisition. Grip tape enhances control without permanent changes. Recoil spring assemblies fine-tune felt recoil. Extended controls and quality triggers refine ergonomics. Start with sights or grip upgrades for immediate improvement.
What's the best ammo for Glock 23?
For the Glock 23, use .40 S&W hollow points achieving 12 to 18 inches of penetration with at least 0.6 inches of expansion. Hornady Critical Defense 165gr FTX is a top choice, with Speer Gold Dot, Remington Golden Saber, and Winchester Ranger also recommended. The 165gr weight is generally preferred for the G23.
