Frequently Asked Questions
FN 509c Tactical for sale
Is the FN 509C a good gun?
Whether it's good depends on your needs. The 509C is a reliable striker-fired compact 9mm with strong ergonomics, aggressive grip texturing, and red dot compatibility. Users praise its accuracy and concealability. Most listings run $710–$1,029, and all five variants are currently in stock across our marketplace.
What are common FN 509 problems?
Reported issues include firing pin breakage during normal live fire, failure to feed, stovepipes, erratic ejections, slide not locking back, trigger stiffness, and magazine release concerns. Most problems stem from improper handling or maintenance rather than design defects. FN 509s generally perform reliably when used and maintained correctly.
How much is the FN 509C tactical?
FN 509C Tactical typically runs around $894 on our marketplace, with most listings between $710–$1,029. Five variants are in stock across 15 retailers. MSRP sits at $914, though street prices vary by retailer and finish.
What is the difference between FN 509 and 509C?
FN 509C is the compact version with a 3.7" barrel versus the full-size 509's 4" barrel. The difference is modest: the 509C measures 6.8" long and 4.6" tall compared to 7.4" and 5.56" for the full-size. Both are striker-fired 9mms. The 509C suits concealed carry; the full-size fits duty or range use.
Can you conceal carry a FN 509 tactical?
Yes. The FN 509 Tactical can be concealed carried, though its threaded barrel and larger frame make it bulkier than standard pistols. Compact and midsize variants conceal more easily. A quality holster and appropriate clothing help manage its size effectively.
What optics fit on a FN 509 tactical?
The FN 509 Tactical accepts optics with an RMR footprint, including Trijicon RMR, Holosun 507C/508T, and similar models. Compact variants use the smaller RMSc footprint. Always verify your specific model's footprint before purchasing, as adapter plates may be needed for some optics.
Does the FN 509C have a safety?
The FN 509C includes a trigger safety as standard. Some variants also feature an ambidextrous manual safety lever, while all models include internal passive safeties such as a striker block and drop safety. Check your specific model, as not all versions include the manual safety.
