Frequently Asked Questions
Springfield XDS Mod 2 .45 for sale
Is the Springfield XD-S mod 2 discontinued?
Yes, Springfield Armory discontinued the standard XD-S Mod.2, but the XD-S Mod.2 OSP (optics-ready variant) remains a current product. Used standard models are still available through various retailers, with pricing typically ranging from $399.99 to $599.99.
Is the XD mod 2 a good gun?
"Good" depends on your needs. The XD-S Mod.2 is a reliable striker-fired subcompact designed for concealed carry, offering a high grip position for better control. Reviewers praise its accuracy and shootability. It remains in active production, including an OSP variant, and typically sells for $399–$599.
What magazines are compatible with the Springfield XD 45?
Springfield XD-S .45 ACP pistols accept 5-, 9-, and 10-round magazines made for that model. The 9-round magazine is standard, while the 10-round version extends the grip. Compatibility varies by generation, so confirm your specific XD-S variant before purchasing.
What is the recall on the Springfield xds 45?
Springfield Armory issued a voluntary safety recall in August 2013 for XD-S pistols in .45 ACP and 9mm due to a safety defect that could cause unintended discharge. Contact Springfield Armory directly at 1-800-680-6866 with your serial number to check eligibility and arrange the free repair.
What are the common problems with the Springfield XD 45?
User reports cite feeding issues with various ammunition types, stiff slide operation, and durability concerns after high round counts, including roll pin ejection and grip safety sear breakage. Springfield issued a 2013 safety recall for unintended discharge risk. Individual reliability varies significantly by specimen.
What is the difference between Springfield XD and XD MOD 2?
The XD Mod.2 features a more aggressive grip texture, improved grip geometry, and a slightly revised trigger guard compared to the original XD. Both are striker-fired pistols with similar mechanics. The Mod.2 offers better ergonomics; the original XD is often available at lower prices on the used market.
What does the S stand for in Springfield xds?
S stands for "Sub-compact," referring to the XD-S's smaller, slimmer frame designed for concealed carry. Springfield Armory offers this striker-fired pistol in 9mm and .45 ACP. The XD-S Mod.2 OSP variant adds a slide cut for mounting red dot sights.
What is the best optic for the xds mod 2?
"Best" depends on your priorities. The Holosun 407K, 507K, and EPS Carry are specifically recommended for the XD-S Mod 2, though all require an adapter plate due to the optic's two front recoil lugs. Verify compatibility with your specific variant by checking Springfield Armory's documentation or contacting their support.
