Frequently Asked Questions
Springfield XD Mod 2 .45 ACP for sale
Is the Springfield XD-S mod 2 .45 discontinued?
Yes, Springfield Armory discontinued the XD-S Mod.2 in .45 ACP. Used inventory remains available through secondary markets. Some stock may still be found through various retailers, though supplies are limited and depleting.
Is the Springfield XD mod 2 a good gun?
"Good" depends on your needs. The XD Mod.2 is generally reliable, ergonomic, and well-suited for concealed carry. Its high grip position aids recoil control, and the striker-fired action with grip safety appeals to many shooters. It's discontinued, so new inventory is limited, but used examples are widely available.
What are the common problems with the Springfield XD 45?
User reports cite stiff slides that remain difficult to rack even after hundreds of rounds, roll pins backing out after several thousand rounds, and feeding issues with certain ammunition types. Experiences vary widely; some owners report thousands of trouble-free rounds while others encountered reliability problems early.
What is the difference between XD and XD mod 2?
The XD Mod.2 updated the original XD with a revised grip texture, redesigned grip safety, and improved ergonomics. Both are striker-fired pistols sharing the same core mechanics, but the Mod.2 reflects Springfield Armory's later refinements for better handling and a more modern feel.
Is there an extended magazine for Springfield XD 45?
Yes. ProMag makes a 25-round extended magazine for the Springfield XD-M in .45 ACP with a blued steel body and removable polymer baseplate, typically around $30. Springer Precision also offers a 170mm extended magazine for XD/XDM/Elite .45 models. Both are available from multiple retailers.
How much is a Springfield XD 45 compact worth?
The Springfield XD 45 Compact typically sells for around $440 new, with used examples ranging from $300 to $435 depending on condition and retailer. On our marketplace, prices vary by variant, so check current listings for the most accurate figures.
What is the best holster for a Springfield XD?
Best holster choice depends on your carry style. For concealed carry, Mission First Tactical and Galco offer quality IWB options around $45–$75. If you carry an XD-S Mod.2 OSP, Blade-Tech's Ultimate Klipt is designed for that specific optic-ready model. Comp-Tac makes versatile OWB holsters. Verify fit for your specific XD variant before purchasing.
Is the Springfield XD good for concealed carry?
The full-size XD Mod.2 .45 ACP is bulky and not well-suited for concealed carry on the body. If you want an XD for carry, the subcompact versions are the recommended option. Fit, holster choice, and personal comfort should always guide any carry decision.
