Frequently Asked Questions
Ruger LCP II 22 for sale
Is the Ruger LCP 22 any good?
The Ruger LCP II .22 LR is accurate, reliable, and reasonably priced at $400. It's well-suited for deep concealment or backup carry. Drawbacks include an awkward safety placement and the .22 LR's limited stopping power compared to larger calibers.
What is the price of the Ruger LCP 22?
Ruger LCP II .22 LR pistols typically retail between $290 and $459, with most listings around $347. Fifteen variants are available across 22 retailers, with twelve currently in stock.
What are common problems with the Ruger LCP?
Common LCP complaints include a stiff magazine release that can slow reloads, a tendency to shoot low at typical carry distances, and sensitivity to limp-wristing due to the small grip. Some shooters report trigger bite and difficulty maintaining a secure hold. Newer models address several of these issues.
Is the Ruger LCP being discontinued?
Ruger discontinued the LCP II in .380 ACP but continues producing the LCP II Lite Rack in .22 LR. The original LCP in .380 ACP remains available. Ruger appears to be shifting focus toward the LCP Max, which offers a higher-capacity design.
What mags can I use for my Ruger LCP?
The original LCP uses 6-round .380 ACP magazines. The LCP II .380 uses its own 6-round mags. The LCP II .22 LR uses 10-round .22 LR mags. The LCP MAX uses its own 10-round and 12-round .380 mags. All three generations are incompatible with each other. Check your exact model before buying.
Does the Ruger LCP have a threaded barrel?
Ruger offers a threaded barrel kit for the LCP II in .22 LR, using 1/2"-28 threads. The original LCP and LCP II in .380 ACP do not have factory threaded barrel options.
Is it safe to carry a Ruger LCP with one in the chamber?
The Ruger LCP is safe to carry with a round chambered. It has no external safety, so use a quality holster that fully covers the trigger guard. The pistol requires deliberate trigger pull to fire. Most self-defense instructors recommend carrying chambered, as racking the slide under stress is unreliable.
What is the best holster for a Ruger LCP?
Best choice depends on your carry style. Pocket holsters like the DeSantis Nemesis work well for pants pocket carry. IWB options from Vedder or Crossbreed suit waistband carry. Kydex holds its shape better than leather for reholstering. Choose based on where you'll actually carry daily.
