Frequently Asked Questions
Mossberg Semi Auto for sale
Does Mossberg make a semi-auto?
Yes. Mossberg makes several semi-auto shotguns, including the 940 Pro Tactical, 940 Pro Field, and SA-20 series. They are available in 12- and 20-gauge configurations and are sold through most major firearms retailers.
What is the best Mossberg semi-auto shotgun?
"Best" depends on your use. The 940 Pro Tactical and 940 Pro Tactical SPX excel for defensive and competition roles. The 930 was a popular hunting option but is discontinued. Prices range from roughly $686–$1,020 depending on variant and retailer.
Is Mossberg 930 still made?
The Mossberg 930 series appears to be discontinued and is no longer listed on Mossberg's website. Mossberg replaced it with the 940 series, which offers improved reliability, better cycling, and an updated gas system. You may still find 930 models through our marketplace from third-party sellers.
Where are Mossberg semi-auto shotguns made?
Mossberg semi-auto shotguns are manufactured in Eagle Pass, Texas. The company moved significant production there and continues making its 940 and SA-20 series at that facility. Corporate headquarters remain in North Haven, Connecticut, where the company has been based since 1962.
Does Mossberg make a tactical semi-auto shotgun?
Yes. Mossberg makes the 940 Pro Tactical SPX and the newer 990 Aftershock, both 12-gauge semi-auto shotguns built for tactical and defensive use. The 940 Pro Tactical SPX retails around $900–$1,000. Both are currently in production and widely available.
How much does a Mossberg semi-automatic shotgun cost?
Mossberg semi-auto shotguns typically range from $200 to over $1,000. Entry-level models start around $400, while tactical variants like the 940 Pro Tactical run $943–$1,019 MSRP. Prices vary by model, retailer, and condition.
Does the Mossberg 930 have a choke?
Yes, most 930 models come with Mossberg Accu-Choke tubes. Included chokes vary by model — for example, the 930 Pro Series comes with Briley Chokes in Skeet, Improved Cylinder, and Modified. Some tactical variants with 18.5-inch barrels feature fixed Cylinder-bore barrels without chokes. Check your specific model's barrel configuration.
What are the common problems with the Mossberg 930 SPX?
User reports of 930 SPX issues center on extraction failures, feeding problems with magazine extensions, and dwell-timing issues in short-barrel models. Some owners encountered canted sights and burrs on barrel springs. Ammo selection and proper assembly affect reliability; warranty service availability varies by retailer.
