Frequently Asked Questions
HK VP9 B for sale
What is the VP9 B?
The VP9-B is a 9mm striker-fired pistol from Heckler & Koch featuring a push-button magazine release instead of the original VP9's paddle release. It has a full-size frame, 17-round capacity, and is designed for defensive and competition use.
How long is the barrel on a VP9?
The standard VP9 barrel measures 4.1 inches. Heckler & Koch also offers a VP9 Tactical variant with a 4.7-inch threaded barrel, and a VP9L long slide model with a 5-inch barrel.
Is the HK VP9 discontinued?
The entire VP9/VP9SK series appears to be discontinued by Heckler & Koch, with the VP line being replaced by a new SFP-named series featuring minor changes. Used and remaining new inventory may still be available through secondary markets and retailers. Prices typically run around $892 depending on variant and availability.
What is the VP9 B match or?
The VP9 Match OR is a competition-focused 9mm pistol from Heckler & Koch featuring a 5.5-inch barrel with O-ring bushing for tighter lockup, a machined optics cut for red-dot sights, and 20-round extended magazines. It combines VP9 ergonomics with match-grade accuracy enhancements.
What does VP9 stand for?
VP stands for Volkspistole, German for "people's pistol." The VP9 is Heckler & Koch's striker-fired 9mm handgun. The number 9 denotes the caliber.
Is the HK VP9 a good pistol?
The VP9 is a full-size striker-fired 9mm known for excellent ergonomics, reliable performance, and highly regarded trigger feel. Grip texture and controls receive consistent praise. HK currently produces the VP9, including the optics-ready VP9-OR. It suits defensive carry, range use, and competition well.
How to remove magazine disconnect VP9?
Removing the VP9 magazine disconnect requires replacing the disassembly safety lever inside the frame. This involves detail-stripping the pistol. Refer to HK Proshop guides or a qualified gunsmith for disassembly steps and correct replacement parts.
What are the common problems with the HK VP9?
Reported issues include an oversized slide release prone to accidental activation, an under-sprung recoil spring, and a trigger bar design that can cause feeding problems. Most users report reliable performance overall, but these quirks are worth considering during handling and maintenance.
