Frequently Asked Questions
Henry Long Ranger for sale
Is the Henry Long Ranger any good?
Yes, reviewers praise the Henry Long Ranger for accuracy, smooth lever action, and low recoil across multiple calibers. It handles hunting to 250+ yards reliably and performs well at extended ranges, especially in 6.5 Creedmoor. Available in four calibers with 12 variants typically priced around $1,093.
What calibers does a Henry Long Ranger come in?
Henry offers the Long Ranger in four calibers: .223 Rem., .243 Win., .308 Win., and 6.5 Creedmoor. Magazine capacity is 5 rounds for .223 Rem. and 4 rounds for the others.
What's the best ammo for a Long Ranger?
Your Henry Long Ranger is available in .223 Rem., .243 Win., .308 Win., and 6.5 Creedmoor. Use quality hunting ammunition matched to your caliber, such as Hornady ELD-X or Federal Trophy Bonded, which offer reliable expansion and accuracy at distance.
How much is a Henry Long Ranger 223 worth?
Henry Long Ranger .223 rifles typically sell for around $1,093 new, with most listings ranging from $935 to $1,100. MSRP is $929–$1,100. Used examples average around $739, with Grade I used rifles generally selling for $400–$800 depending on condition and configuration.
Does a 243 kick harder than a 308?
No. The .308 Win. produces roughly double the recoil energy of the .243 Win. The .243 is noticeably gentler to shoot, which is why it's often recommended for younger or recoil-sensitive shooters without sacrificing effective hunting performance at distance.
What is the effective range of the Henry Long Ranger?
Effective range depends on caliber and setup. With open sights, expect reliable accuracy to 100 yards. A scoped Long Ranger in 6.5 Creedmoor or .308 Win. reaches well beyond 300 yards — NRA testing confirms it as a capable 250-yard deer rifle, and shooters report hitting steel targets at 500 yards and beyond.
How heavy is the Henry Long Ranger 308?
The Henry Long Ranger in .308 Win. weighs 7 pounds.
What magazine does Henry Long Ranger use?
Henry Long Ranger rifles use detachable box magazines. Capacity varies by caliber: .223 Rem. holds 5 rounds, while .243 Win. and .308 Win. each hold 4 rounds.
