Frequently Asked Questions
Glock 17 MOS for sale
Is the Glock 17 Mos discontinued?
The Glock 17 Gen5 MOS has been discontinued, with the Glock 47 MOS serving as its replacement. The standard Glock 17 Gen5 (non-MOS) remains in production. Remaining MOS stock is still available through various retailers, typically priced around $649.99.
What are the common problems with Glock 17 Mos?
Common issues reported with the Glock 17 MOS include feeding failures, trigger concerns, and slide cycling problems when mounting heavier optics like the RMR. Some users find recoil spring adjustments necessary. Most problems resolve with proper maintenance and quality ammunition.
What is the lifespan of a Glock 17 MOS?
Glock 17s typically last 200,000 to 300,000 rounds with proper maintenance before frame or slide failure occurs. Most shooters won't exhaust this lifespan in a lifetime of use. Glock warrants the pistol against defects for one year from purchase.
Is a Glock MOS slide worth it?
Worth depends on your optic choice. MOS slides cost around $600-620 versus $500-520 for standard slides plus $100+ gunsmith work. Quality adapter plates matter—Glock's own plates are reportedly poor. Some optics like the Holosun SCS mount directly and sit low, making MOS more attractive. Check your specific red dot's compatibility first.
Is the Glock 17 Gen 5 Mos discontinued?
Glock has officially discontinued the Glock 17 Gen 5 MOS, listing it on their discontinued pistols page. It is being discontinued after November 30, 2025, reportedly in favor of models like the Glock 47. Check authorized dealers for remaining stock availability.
Does the Glock 17 Gen 5 come in MOS?
Yes, the Glock 17 Gen 5 is available in an MOS (Modular Optic System) configuration. It features a pre-cut slide for mounting red dot sights via adapter plates, along with the Glock Marksman Barrel, nDLC finish, and ambidextrous slide stop levers.
What are common problems with the G17 Gen 5?
Reported Gen 5 issues include extraction problems, feeding failures, slide wear from metal-on-metal friction, worn ridges inside the slide, and potentially incorrectly cut feed ramps. These suggest some problems are manufacturing-related rather than purely ammunition-related. Issues remain uncommon overall, but may require inspection or service to resolve.
Did Glock make a Gen 4 MOS?
Yes, Glock made Gen 4 MOS models. The G17 Gen4 MOS and G19 Gen4 MOS featured optics-ready slides for mounting reflex sights. Gen 4 production has since been discontinued in favor of Gen 5 variants.
What are common problems with the Glock 17 Gen 4?
Gen 4 models experienced occasional feeding issues and erratic ejection (including brass-to-face) due to ejector and extractor design flaws. Glock addressed these with updated ejectors and extractors in later production runs. Some users also reported finish wear concerns. Most issues were resolved under warranty or free parts replacement.
What does Glock 17 MOS mean?
MOS stands for Modular Optic System. It allows you to mount red dot sights directly onto the slide without milling or gunsmithing. The pistol comes with adapter plates that fit several popular optics brands.
How much does a GLOCK MOS cost?
Glock MOS pistols vary widely by model. The G43X and G48 MOS start around $484–$485, while the G19 MOS averages roughly $757 new. On our marketplace, listings range from $530 to $925 depending on model and retailer.
What red dots fit a Glock 17 Mos?
Glock 17 MOS slides accept optics using included adapter plates. Common fits include the Trijicon RMR/SRO, Holosun 407C/507C/509T, Leupold DeltaPoint Pro, Vortex Venom, and Aimpoint ACRO. Check your adapter plate set, as it determines which footprints are compatible.
What optic cut is Glock Mos?
Glock MOS uses a proprietary adapter plate system accommodating footprints including Trijicon RMR, Holosun 407C/507C/509T, and Leupold DeltaPoint Pro. Slimline MOS models differ — they have direct slide cuts for specific micro-optics, with MOS-K models cut for the Shield RMSc footprint, requiring no adapter plates.
Can I put a red dot on my Glock 17?
Yes. The Glock 17 MOS model accepts red dot optics using included adapter plates for popular footprints like the RMR, Holosun 407C/507C, Leupold DeltaPoint Pro, and Aimpoint ACRO P-2. Standard G17 slides require professional machining or an aftermarket slide to mount a red dot.
Can you get a threaded barrel for a Glock 17?
Yes. Glock sells an OEM threaded barrel for the G17 for around $205. Aftermarket options from Lone Wolf and Combat Armory offer match-grade or fluted variants. They fit Gen 1–5 models and accept suppressors or compensators.
