Frequently Asked Questions
FN FNX Tactical for sale
Is the FNX-45 Tactical worth the money?
Value depends on your priorities. Typically around $1,379 MSRP. It offers rare high-capacity DA/SA .45 ACP in a polymer frame with suppressor-ready features and quality night sights. Limited aftermarket support and expensive parts are drawbacks. Strong reliability and ergonomics justify the cost for dedicated .45 ACP users.
Why are FN guns so expensive?
FN firearms are expensive because of high development costs for unique designs like the Five-seveN, strong military contracts that drive their business model, and consumer willingness to pay premium prices. Their engineering investments in specialized platforms are significant, and the civilian market simply accepts and supports those higher price points.
How reliable are FN pistols?
FN pistols are generally very reliable. The 509 and Reflex handle thousands of rounds with minimal malfunctions in user testing. They're well-built for defensive use, though they have less long-term field data than Glock or Sig Sauer due to smaller market share.
Is the FNX 45 tactical good for concealed carry?
The FNX-45 Tactical is a full-size pistol designed for duty or home defense. Its size, weight, and thick double-stack grip make concealment difficult. For a concealable .45 ACP, consider a compact alternative.
What is the best holster for the FNX 45 tactical?
"Best" depends on your carry method. For OWB tactical use, Blade-Tech and C&G Holsters are popular Kydex options. For IWB concealed carry, Vedder and Alien Gear offer good fits. The FNX-45 Tactical's size and threaded barrel require holsters specifically designed for that model.
What are the common problems with the FNX 45?
User reports cite magazine spring issues, slide lock failures, and occasional stovepipes, particularly with underpowered ammunition. Some owners experienced reliability problems out of the box. The large grip may challenge shooters with smaller hands. Running hotter ammunition and a break-in period typically resolves initial issues for most users.
