Frequently Asked Questions
FN FNX for sale
How much is a FN FNX 45 Tactical worth?
FNX-45 Tactical pistols typically sell around $1,199, with most listings ranging from $547 to $1,300 depending on condition, finish, and included accessories. New retail prices average around $1,200, though used examples and sales can bring the price lower.
Is the FNX-45 Tactical worth the money?
Worth depends on your priorities. MSRP runs $1,379, with street prices varying. Owners cite reliable performance and an uncommon DA/SA trigger with 15-round .45 ACP capacity. Drawbacks include limited aftermarket support and heavy weight. Better suited for duty or home defense than everyday carry.
Which is better Glock 21 or FNX 45?
Neither is objectively "better"—it depends on your priorities. The Glock 21 costs less, has extensive aftermarket support, and simpler maintenance. The FNX-45 Tactical comes suppressor-ready with raised sights and a DA/SA trigger. For suppressor or competition use, the FNX's factory features may justify its higher price.
How much is a FNX 9 worth?
Used FNX-9 pistols average around $530, with a 12-month average near $511, though condition can push prices lower. The official MSRP is $824. Prices vary by retailer, configuration, and included accessories.
Is the FNX 9 a good pistol?
The FNX-9 is generally well-regarded for reliability, accuracy, and ambidextrous controls. Drawbacks include limited grip customization and a short trigger reset. It performs well as a duty or range pistol, though it lacks factory optics-ready cuts found on newer competitors. Personal fit matters most.
Is the FNX 9 discontinued?
Yes, FN discontinued the FNX-9. It is no longer in production, though used examples remain available on the secondary market. FN has shifted focus to the FN 509 series. Parts and magazines remain obtainable from aftermarket suppliers.
What is the difference between FN and FNX?
FN and FNX are both FN Herstal pistol lines. The FNX series features DA/SA triggers and ambidextrous controls. The newer FN 545 offers 18+1 capacity versus the FNX-45's 15+1. Tactical variants of both include threaded barrels and night sights for suppressor use.
What ammo is best for the FNX 45?
For the FNX-45, Federal HST, Speer Gold Dot, and Hornady Critical Defense in 230gr are strong choices for defensive use. For range training, any quality brass-cased .45 ACP works well. Avoid steel-cased ammo. The pistol feeds reliably with standard pressure loads from reputable manufacturers.
Is the FNX 9 a good gun?
The FNX-9 is a reliable, accurate pistol with ambidextrous controls, solid DA/SA trigger, and good ergonomics. It handles well in various conditions. Priced around $600–700 used, it competes well against similar hammer-fired pistols. A strong choice if you prefer hammer-fired over striker-fired designs.
Is FNX 9 good for concealed carry?
FNX-9 is possible to conceal but challenging. Its full-size frame and 17-round capacity suit duty or open carry better. At 24.4 ounces unloaded, weight is manageable, yet the grip and slide profile demand a quality holster and proper clothing. Better suited for home defense or range use than deep concealment.
Is the FNX 45 reliable?
The FNX-45 is generally considered reliable. Most owners report flawless operation with quality ammunition over thousands of rounds. Early production units had occasional feeding issues, but current examples perform well. Its cold hammer-forged barrel and polished feed ramp contribute to consistent function.
Is the FNX-45 worth it?
Worth it depends on your priorities. At around $1,199, the FNX-45 offers reliable .45 ACP performance, a 15-round capacity, and suppressor-ready features. Drawbacks include limited aftermarket support and expensive parts. At 33 ounces, it suits duty use better than everyday carry.
What are the common problems with the FNX-45?
User reports cite magazine spring issues, occasional failure to lock the slide back, and ejection problems in early units. Some owners experienced feeding malfunctions with underpowered ammunition. Magazine follower wear and limited factory support have also been noted. Current production guns generally perform better with quality ammunition.
What ammo is best for the FNX-45?
Federal HST or Speer Gold Dot 230-grain .45 ACP are reliable choices for the FNX-45. The FNX-45 runs reliably with nearly all quality .45 ACP ammunition, including standard and +P loads. Always test your chosen ammunition through your specific pistol before depending on it.
