Frequently Asked Questions
Colt Combat Elite Commander .45 ACP for sale
Is the Colt Combat Elite a good gun?
Combat Elite models earn solid marks for reliability and accuracy. Reviewers report 100% reliability across ammunition types with manageable recoil even in compact variants. Well-suited for concealed carry. Available in 9mm and .45 ACP across Government, Commander, and Defender sizes.
What is Colt Combat Elite?
Colt Combat Elite is a semi-automatic pistol line built on the XSE platform, featuring a single-action trigger and upswept grip safety. Available in Government, Commander, and Defender frame sizes, chambered in 9mm or .45 ACP, and designed for concealed carry. Retail price is approximately $1,360.
What are the common problems with the Colt combat commander?
Commander-sized 1911s occasionally exhibit feed issues and slide stop breakage, though these aren't inherent design flaws. Most reliability concerns stem from older production or poor maintenance. Modern Combat Elite Commanders run reliably across ammunition types when properly maintained. Individual examples vary; inspect used guns carefully before purchase.
Are Colt Defenders reliable?
Colt Defenders earn strong reliability marks. Testing shows flawless performance across various ammunition with quality magazines like Wilson Combat, Ed Brown, and Mec-Gar. Stock Colt magazines occasionally underperform, but this is common among 1911s. Overall accuracy and dependability make them well-suited for concealed carry and defensive use.
