Frequently Asked Questions
Beretta 1301 for sale
Is the Beretta 1301 worth the money?
Value depends on your needs. Beretta 1301s typically cost $1,700, with most listings ranging $1,213–$2,319. Owners cite reliable cycling, low recoil, and versatility across defense, duty, and competition use. For a dependable semi-auto shotgun, most buyers find the performance justifies the price.
Is the Beretta 1301 tactical better than the Benelli M4?
Both excel in different roles. The 1301 Tactical cycles faster but may produce more recoil than the M4 as a result. It costs around $1,700, suiting competition and home defense. The M4 is heavier, more expensive (~$2,000+), but proven in military combat. Extreme durability favors Benelli; speed favors Beretta.
Can you shoot slugs out of a Beretta 1301 Tactical?
Yes, the Beretta 1301 Tactical can physically shoot slugs, and users report reliable cycling with both standard and low-recoil slugs. However, Beretta officially advises against shooting slugs through the barrel. Real-world experience shows the gun handles them well, but do so against manufacturer recommendations.
What are the common problems with the Beretta 1301 Tactical Mod 2?
Most reported issues involve failures to fire caused by fouling in the firing pin channel. Some users note extensive plastic components that could be upgraded to aluminum. Overall reliability is strong across most ammunition types, though occasional light primer strikes have been documented.
Can the 1301 run mini shells?
No, the 1301 won't cycle mini shells reliably. Multiple users report failures to feed and cycle with Aguila mini shells and other low-recoil rounds. The gun is designed for standard 2.75" and 3" shells, and mini shells lack sufficient power to operate the semi-auto action consistently.
What is the best stock for the Beretta 1301?
Stock choice depends on your priorities. The Magpul SGA and Chisel Machining stocks are popular upgrades offering better ergonomics and adjustability than the factory option. Mesa Tactical's Urbino Pistol Grip Stock is widely considered the standard tactical stock upgrade for the 1301. Try before buying if possible.
Is the Beretta 1301 drop safe?
The Beretta 1301 is not 100% drop safe. It lacks a dedicated firing pin block, meaning a drop at the right angle with sufficient force could theoretically cause an unintended discharge. Exercise standard firearm safety practices and always use proper storage. We carry several 1301 models on our marketplace.
Is the Beretta 1301 good for competition?
Yes. The 1301 Competition comes factory-ready for matches with an extended bolt handle, smoothed ports, and threaded chokes. Its semi-auto reliability and low recoil make it competitive across three-gun and shotgun sports. Typically priced around $1,700.
What is the difference between Beretta 1301 Tactical and Comp?
The Tactical is designed for defensive/duty use with shorter barrels and standard furniture. The Comp targets competition shooting with a lighter build, extended controls, and ported barrels to reduce recoil and improve split times. Choose Tactical for home defense or duty; Comp for shotgun sports.
Can you dry fire a Beretta 1301?
Yes, the Beretta 1301 can handle occasional dry firing with minimal risk. For extensive dry fire practice, use snap caps to reduce wear on internal components. Always verify the chamber and magazine are completely empty before dry firing.
What is the difference between 1301 and 1301 mod 2?
The original 1301 came with a 5-round magazine, polymer fore-end, and large bolt release. The Mod 2 adds a 7-round magazine, M-Lok fore-end rails, threaded barrel for choke tubes, improved shell lifter, and reversible safety, while retaining Beretta's semi-auto action and recoil system.
What is the price of the Beretta 1301 mod 2?
Beretta 1301 Mod 2 shotguns typically cost around $1,700, with most listings ranging from $1,213 to $2,319 depending on barrel length, finish, and configuration.
What is the Beretta 1301 mod 2 used for?
Beretta designed the 1301 Mod 2 for law enforcement, home defense, and tactical competition. Its semi-automatic action, reduced recoil, and 7-round capacity suit duty and defensive use. Built-in flashlight rails allow accessory mounting without additional cost, and choke tube installation is supported.
Can you ghost load a Beretta 1301 mod 2?
Yes. Chamber a round manually, then fill the magazine to capacity. The 1301 Mod 2's reliable semi-auto action handles this without issue, and the extended magazine means you carry the chambered round plus a full tube—useful in competition shooting.
Is the Beretta 1301 Mod 2 good for home defense?
Yes. The 1301 Mod 2 is a reliable semi-auto shotgun with soft recoil, an 8-round capacity, and factory-installed rails for accessories. It performs well in tactical and defensive roles, making it a solid home defense choice.
