Cimarron Firearms Trapdoor Features
The US Army's first standard issue breech loading rifle was the 1873 Springfield "Trapdoor", named for its hinged breechblock which opened like a trapdoor. The infantry rifle had a 32.625" barrel, while the cavalry carbine had a 22" barrel. This modern day reproduction by Cimarron is faithful in appearance and operation while taking advantage of modern metallurgy and industrial technology.
