The Confederates imported more of these guns during the war and towards the end of the war, more than 75% were armed with the 1853 Enfield. It was the second most widely used rifle behind the 1861 Springfield Musket. The original (as with this reproduction) have a 39" barrel and was fastened to the stock with 3 metal bands. This model is also known as the "three band" model.
