Frequently Asked Questions
Walther PPK/S for sale
What is the difference between a PPK and PPK S?
The PPK/S combines the PPK's slide with the PP's larger frame, making it slightly taller at 4.7 inches versus the PPK's 4.5 inches. The "S" stands for Sport. This taller grip met the 1968 Gun Control Act's import point requirements. Both share the same slide and caliber options.
What are the common problems with a Walther PPK-S?
Common issues include failures to eject, particularly with lower-velocity .22LR ammo—use high-velocity rounds like CCI Mini Mags for reliability. Some users report double-feed jams and heavy double-action trigger pulls. Thorough cleaning and proper lubrication often resolve feeding problems. Sights are also considered subpar by many owners.
Are Walther PPKs still being made?
Yes, Walther has manufactured the PPK and PPK/S at its Fort Smith, Arkansas facility in calibers including .380 ACP and .22 LR. However, Walther Arms has announced a formal multi-year production suspension of the PPK, PPK/S, and PP lines as part of a long-term product vision change.
Is Walther PPK good for concealed carry?
Yes, the PPK works well for concealed carry. Its compact frame suits close-range defensive use. Capacity ranges from 6 to 8 rounds depending on caliber. .380 ACP offers better stopping power than .32 Auto or .22LR. Typical pricing runs around $877, and the PPK/S remains in active production.
Is Walther PPK 9mm or 380?
The Walther PPK is chambered in .380 ACP (most common) or .32 ACP, not 9mm. The PPK/S variant is also available in .22 LR. No standard production version is chambered in 9mm Parabellum.
What size gun is a Walther PPK?
The Walther PPK is a compact semi-automatic pistol chambered in .380 ACP, .32 Auto, or .22 LR. It measures 6.1 inches long, 3.8 inches tall, and 0.98 inches wide, with a magazine capacity of 6 to 8 rounds depending on caliber.
