Frequently Asked Questions
Springfield XD 45 for sale
Is the Springfield XD 45 a good gun?
Whether the XD-45 suits you depends on your needs. Users praise its reliability, ergonomics, and .45 ACP stopping power in a compact frame. It's discontinued but available used. Consider hand fit, intended use, and budget before deciding.
Is the Springfield XD 45 discontinued?
Springfield discontinued specific XD-45 variants, such as the XD-M 4.5" in .45 ACP and XDs .45 ACP, but has not discontinued the entire XD-45 line.
What are the common problems with the Springfield XD 45?
Reported issues include stiff slides that are difficult to rack, roll pins backing out after high round counts, grip safety sear breakage, and occasional feeding problems with certain ammunition types. Experiences vary widely; some owners report thousands of trouble-free rounds while others encounter reliability concerns. Ammo selection and maintenance matter.
How much is a Springfield XD 45 compact worth?
Springfield XD-45 Compact pistols average around $441 new and $329 used, with used examples typically ranging from $300 to $435. Condition, variant, and included accessories affect final price. Our marketplace listings reflect similar trends.
Is the XD 45 good for concealed carry?
The XD-45 Compact works well for concealed carry. Its shortened grip reduces printing, and the striker-fired action is reliable. Holster options are widely available. However, fit depends on your body type and carry position, so try before committing.
What magazines are compatible with the Springfield XD 45?
Springfield XD-45 models accept 10-round and 13-round .45 ACP magazines designed for the XD platform. The 10-round compact magazine fits without a grip extension, while the 13-round adds length. Compatibility varies slightly across variants (Compact, Tactical, Mod.2), so verify your specific model before purchasing.
What is the best holster for a Springfield XD?
Best holster choice depends on your carry style. Mission First Tactical and Comp-Tac offer quality IWB and OWB options for XD models, typically $45–$75. Galco provides premium leather alternatives. Verify your specific XD variant (Compact, Tactical, XDM) fits the holster before buying, as retention and comfort vary by model.
When did the Springfield XD 45 come out?
The Springfield XD chambered in .45 ACP was introduced around 2006, when Springfield Armory expanded the XD lineup to include the larger caliber alongside existing 9mm and .40 S&W versions.
