Frequently Asked Questions
Ruger Vaquero 357 for sale
How much does a Ruger Vaquero 357 cost?
Ruger Vaquero 357 Magnum revolvers typically cost around $835, with most listings falling between $665 and $1,324 across 18 retailers. MSRP varies by finish, with blued models around $829–$848 and the stainless model at $1,099.
Can Ruger Vaquero handle hot loads?
New Vaqueros handle standard .45 Colt loads but aren't designed for hot handloads. Stay at SAA-equivalent pressures around 23,000 psi. The smaller cylinder isn't built for magnum-level pressures. For heavy loads, use the larger-framed Blackhawk or Redhawk instead.
How does the Vaquero revolver compare to other revolvers?
The Vaquero is a single-action revolver chambered in .357 Magnum and .45 Colt with fixed sights. The original Vaquero was much larger than the Colt SAA, so Ruger redesigned it into the New Vaquero at Colt-compatible size. Both offer strong durability at around $835, competing with other SAA-style revolvers.
What makes a Ruger a bisley?
A Ruger Bisley features a lower, differently angled grip frame that directs recoil into the palm rather than rotating the gun upward. It also has a curved trigger, rounded trigger guard, and a lower, wider hammer spur for easier thumb-cocking without shifting your grip.
