Frequently Asked Questions
Ruger EC9s for sale
Is the Ruger EC9 discontinued?
Yes, Ruger discontinued the EC9s. New production has ended, but existing inventory can still be purchased from sellers while supplies last.
What are the common problems with the Ruger EC9s?
Common issues reported include light primer strikes, magazine feed problems, and failure to extract. Some users experience failures to fire with certain ammunition brands. The trigger pull is heavier than many comparable pistols. Most problems resolve with a break-in period, quality ammunition, or magazine replacement.
Is the Ruger EC9s 9 any good?
The Ruger EC9s is a solid budget carry pistol around $280. It's compact, lightweight, and reliable with standard ammunition. Some users report accuracy limitations and occasional feeding issues with certain hollow points. For the price, it's a capable concealed carry option, though not a match-grade shooter.
What ammo is best for the Ruger EC9s?
Your EC9s shoots 9mm Luger. For carry, use quality hollow points like Speer Gold Dot or Federal HST in 124-grain. Test your chosen load for reliability before carrying it. Standard 115-grain FMJ works well for practice. Avoid very light or unusually shaped bullets, which can cause feed issues.
Where to carry EC9 for deep conceal?
Inside-the-waistband at 3-4 o'clock provides solid deep concealment for the EC9s. Appendix carry and pocket holsters are also effective given its slim 0.9" profile and 17.2 oz weight. Use Kydex or polymer construction for reliable retention.
Does Ruger EC9s have an extended magazine?
Yes. Ruger offers a factory 9-round extended magazine for the EC9s, adding two rounds to the standard 7-round capacity. It includes a grip extension, steel construction, witness holes, and an anti-tilt follower for reliable feeding.
What is the difference between a Ruger EC9 and EC9s?
The EC9 was discontinued and replaced by the EC9s. The EC9s features an improved trigger, better ergonomics, and enhanced reliability. Both are compact 9mm striker-fired pistols with 7-round capacity designed for concealed carry, but the EC9s is Ruger's current production model.
What is the Ruger EC9s price?
Ruger EC9s pistols typically cost around $236 based on current marketplace listings, with most retailing between $200 and $279 depending on condition and retailer. Prices have dropped considerably from the original MSRP of $299.
