Frequently Asked Questions
Ruger 10 22 Target for sale
What is the most accurate 22 target rifle?
Accuracy varies by budget and distance. The Anschutz 1907 and 1913 are the gold standard for Olympic and precision target shooting. The Bleiker and Walther KK500 also compete at the highest levels. For lower budgets, the CZ 457 and Ruger Precision Rimfire deliver strong results.
How far can you hit a target with a 22 rifle?
Effective range depends on rifle quality, optics, ammunition, and shooter skill. Most .22 LR rifles reliably hit targets to 100 yards. Quality precision rifles with match ammo reach 300-400 yards in good conditions. Skilled shooters with specialized setups can engage targets at 600-700 yards, though wind becomes critical at distance.
What is the best target scope for a 22 LR?
Best scope choice depends on your shooting distance. For 20-50 yard target work, pick a rimfire scope with adjustable parallax—Vortex Crossfire II and Nikon ProStaff Rimfire are solid options. For longer range precision, a 4-12x magnification scope handles 100+ yards well. Avoid standard hunting scopes; they're parallax-set for 100+ yards and won't track accurately up close.
Is sighting in at 25 yards the same as 100?
No. A 25-yard zero differs from a 100-yard zero. At 25 yards, most rifle bullets strike roughly 2.5–3 inches low relative to where they'll be at 100 yards, depending on caliber and load. Use a ballistic calculator to find the correct 25-yard aiming point that produces your desired 100-yard zero.
What are the common problems with Ruger 22s?
Ruger .22 rifles, particularly the 10/22, occasionally experience failure to feed and failure to extract. Aftermarket magazines often cause jams. Regular cleaning and quality ammunition resolve most issues. Most owners report solid reliability when using factory magazines and performing routine maintenance.
What is the most accurate 22lr ammo at 100 yards?
Accuracy at 100 yards depends on your rifle and technique, but Lapua Midas+, Eley Match, and CenterX consistently deliver tight groups in precision rimfire rifles. Norma Xtreme LR-22 also performs well. Lot-testing ammunition helps identify the best match for your specific gun.
