Frequently Asked Questions
Mossberg Patriot Long Range Hunter for sale
Is the Mossberg Patriot LR Hunter any good?
The Mossberg Patriot LR Hunter is a capable bolt-action hunting rifle offering solid long-range accuracy at a reasonable price. Available in twelve calibers from .243 to .338 Win Mag, it weighs 7.5 pounds and retails around $593. Reviewers generally praise its value and precision.
Is the Mossberg Patriot a Remington 700 clone?
No. The Patriot is an independent Mossberg design with its own action, though it draws influence from the Remington 700 and Howa 1500. It shares some design philosophy but is not a copy or clone of the 700.
Which is better, Mossberg Patriot or Savage Axis?
Both are budget bolt-actions at similar price points. The Mossberg Patriot offers more caliber options and a five-round detachable magazine but is heavier. The Savage Axis is lighter and uses a four-round steel magazine. Choose the Patriot for versatility, the Axis if keeping weight down matters most.
What is the stock for the Mossberg Patriot?
The Mossberg Patriot comes standard with a synthetic stock featuring a 13.75-inch length of pull. It is available in short and long action configurations to accommodate various calibers. Aftermarket options, including Grayboe stocks, are also available.
Where is the Mossberg Patriot manufactured?
Mossberg manufactures the Patriot rifle at its facilities in Connecticut, where the company is headquartered in North Haven. Mossberg also has manufacturing operations in Texas. Originally founded in Connecticut, the company continues producing rifles across both locations today.
What is the effective range of The Patriot?
Effective range depends on caliber and ammunition. Most Patriot hunters use it effectively to 300 yards, though magnum options like .300 Win. Mag and .338 Win. Mag extend that to 400+ yards. Lighter calibers like .243 and .22-250 work well to 250 yards. Actual range varies with shooter skill and conditions.
How much is the Mossberg Patriot 6.5 PRC?
Mossberg Patriot rifles in 6.5 PRC typically cost around $593, with most listings ranging from $522 to $731 depending on configuration and retailer. Variants include standard and combo packages with optics. Check our marketplace for current pricing across multiple retailers.
What brand scope comes on Mossberg Patriot?
Mossberg Patriot combo packages may include different scopes depending on the model — some come with a Vortex Crossfire II 3-9x40, while others include a USOI 3-9x40 riflescope. Standard Patriot rifles ship without optics. Check the specific model listing to confirm which scope, if any, is included.
