Frequently Asked Questions
Mossberg 715T for sale
Is the Mossberg 715T a good gun?
Good depends on your needs. The 715T is a reliable .22LR semi-auto designed for plinking and range shooting, typically around $350. It mimics AR-15 ergonomics and accepts aftermarket accessories. Owners praise its accuracy, and with the right ammo it can serve as a capable small game hunting gun.
What are the common problems with the Mossberg 715T?
User reports mention failure-to-eject issues, bolt locking back unexpectedly, and feeding problems. Most stem from ammo incompatibility—the rifle prefers certain .22LR loads over others. Factory lubricant can cause sticking; pre-cleaning helps. Some cases required trigger housing replacement under warranty. Quality ammo and proper maintenance typically resolve these issues.
Is a Mossberg 715T prohibited in Canada?
The Mossberg 715T's classification depends on configuration. The AR clam shell stock variant is prohibited under federal firearms bans. The regular stock version may remain non-restricted. The magazine is prohibited above 10 rounds. Classifications vary by configuration and can change. Confirm current status with the RCMP Canadian Firearms Program before purchasing.
What magazines fit Mossberg 715T?
ProMag Mossberg 715 .22LR 25-round magazines fit the 715T, as do factory Mossberg magazines. ProMag versions feature polymer lower and steel upper construction and include a lifetime warranty. In Canada, magazines over 10 rounds are prohibited.
Is a Mossberg 715T an AR?
No. The Mossberg 715T mimics AR-15 styling but is not an AR platform rifle. It uses a Mossberg 702 Plinkster action chambered in .22LR—a semi-auto rimfire designed for plinking, built to look tactical rather than function as a true AR.
What kind of ammo does a Mossberg 715T use?
The Mossberg 715T uses .22 LR ammunition. It feeds from 10 or 25-round detachable box magazines. Most standard and high-velocity .22 LR loads function reliably, with CCI Mini-Mag and Winchester M22 being commonly recommended options.
