Frequently Asked Questions
Kimber Micro 9 for sale
Is a Kimber Micro 9 a good pistol?
Whether it's "good" depends on your priorities. Kimber Micro 9s cost around $743 and offer reliable 9mm subcompact carry in a 1911-style package. Some owners report flawless function; others experience early feeding issues. Standard models lack factory night sights, adding cost.
What are common problems with Kimber Micro 9?
Reported issues include failure to feed, failure to eject, light primer strikes, and extractor problems. Some owners experience stiff controls or magazine fit issues. Early rounds occasionally malfunction during break-in. Kimber's warranty service generally resolves persistent problems. Quality control inconsistency means some examples run flawlessly while others require gunsmith attention.
What holster fits a Kimber Micro 9?
Vedder Holsters, 1791 Gunleather, Alien Gear, and Galco make holsters specifically molded for the Kimber Micro 9. Look for IWB or OWB options labeled for the Micro 9 by name. Always verify fit compatibility before purchasing, as similar-sized pistols may not share holsters.
What mags fit Kimber Micro 9?
Kimber Micro 9 magazines in 6, 7, and 8-round capacities fit the pistol. Sig P938 magazines also work and are interchangeable. Factory Kimber magazines run $26–$46. Verify compatibility when purchasing aftermarket options, as fit can vary between manufacturers.
What ammo is best for Kimber Micro 9?
For carry, prioritize quality hollow-points from Federal HST, Winchester Ranger-T, or Hornady Critical Duty. Heavier 147-grain rounds often perform better in short barrels and produce less snappy recoil than lighter loads. Test reliability in your specific gun before relying on any round for self-defense.
Is it bad to dry fire Kimber Micro 9?
Kimber explicitly states it is safe to dry-fire their centerfire pistols, including the Micro 9. Always verify the gun is unloaded and point it in a safe direction first. Note that the Micro 9 is hammer-fired, not striker-fired, so dry-firing is the standard way to decock it.
How many rounds does it take to break in a Kimber Micro 9?
Most users report the Micro 9 requires around 200–500 rounds to break in fully due to tight tolerances. Lighter 115-grain loads may cause feeding or ejection issues early on; 124-grain ammunition is generally recommended during break-in. Follow Kimber's manual for specific guidance.
