Frequently Asked Questions
Kimber K6s for sale
What is the Kimber K6s price?
Kimber K6s revolvers typically cost around $905 new and $727 used, with listings starting as low as $699.99. Most new listings fall in a moderate range depending on finish and configuration, with seven variants tracked across 25 retailers.
Can you pocket carry a Kimber K6s?
Yes, you can pocket carry a K6s, but its 23-ounce unloaded weight makes it uncomfortable for extended carry in lighter pants. It works better in stiffer trousers with a quality pocket holster. Most users find IWB or OWB carry more practical for all-day use.
Is the Kimber K6s 2 inch or 3 inch?
Kimber offers the K6s in multiple barrel lengths: 2-inch, 3-inch, and 4-inch variants. The 2-inch is the most common for concealed carry. Check specific listings to confirm the barrel length before purchasing.
Is kimber K6s drop safe?
The Kimber K6s uses an internal hammer block safety that prevents the gun from firing if dropped. As long as the revolver remains unmodified with factory components, it is drop safe. Aftermarket modifications to the firing pin or spring may compromise this protection.
Will kimber K6s grips fit k6xs?
Yes, K6s grips fit the K6xs. Both share the same frame and grip interface, so standard grips interchange directly. Some Crimson Trace laser grips may have compatibility issues. Verify with the manufacturer if using specialized aftermarket options.
What is the difference between k6xs and K6s?
K6xs uses an aluminum frame and fires .38 Special only, while K6s is stainless steel and handles both .357 Magnum and .38 Special. K6xs weighs roughly half a pound less, making it easier to carry but generating more recoil. Both share the same compact six-shot design.
Can you shoot 38 special in a Kimber K6s?
Yes, the Kimber K6s fires both .357 Magnum and .38 Special, including +P loads. If you prefer .38 Special exclusively, Kimber also makes the K6xs, chambered in .38 Special only, which weighs less.
How reliable is the Kimber K6s?
The Kimber K6s is generally considered reliable for a defensive carry revolver. Most owners report consistent performance and smooth operation. Build quality is high, though some users note limited speedloader compatibility. It has a good reputation, with few reported malfunctions under normal use conditions.
